Expert Analysis
Brandon Tinnon | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
This young lady is going to Maryville, and they get a true leader who is a solid kid on the floor, but an even better one off of it. She is a floor general who can change pace with ease. She can get buckets, but also control the pace of the game. She knows when to put her foot on the gas and when to slow it down for her club. Of course, she can score from all three levels, showcasing that nice lefty stroke. One of her underappreciated assets is her ability to defend. She is going to get into a stance and make it difficult for her opponents to operate. Maryville is getting a kid who will truly add value to their program.

This crafty lefty has a smooth game. Plays with speed, power, and grit, she is going to give you her best every time she steps onto the floor. I love her ability to push the ball in transitions, leading to layups, open shots, etc. She’s a heady ball player who doesn’t force, plays with poise, and is filled with energy. Her game speaks volumes, and she will be looked upon as a leader for her ball club. From scoring to making timely assists to playing tenacious defense, Kara is a legit kid who can cause disruption anytime she is on the floor.

A fun kid to watch. Plays with such a tempo that it makes it challenging for opponents to bottle her up. A heady floor general who can distribute the ball, but also score it from all three levels. I love her ability to guard the full length of the floor, making it difficult for opponents to operate. She’s a tough competitor who is willing to do whatever it takes to help her ballclub win. With a sweet lefty stroke, this kid is not only a scoring threat but an all-around player who is impactful. Look for her to have a big year and obtain accolades along the way.

This kid has a high basketball IQ and sees the floor well. She has a motor on her that enables her to be aggressive and attack downhill. She is a selfless ball player who can kick out and dump to open teammates for easy shot attempts. Plays with poise, and when her team needs a bucket, she steps up and delivers. Can score from all 3 levels and then turn around and defend. Solid ball player who is continuing to get better and increase her stock amongst coaches.

Plays with such poise, this kid is a tremendous athlete who gets after it. She can knock down the 3-ball from deep, slash through gaps to attack the rim, pull back, and set up the offense to get an advantageous shot. She is great in the two-man game where she can change the pace and great an advantage for herself. She’s a tough competitor whose stock will be rising, especially if she keeps playing at this clip. A talented kid who is about to explode.

The 5’7 guard has put up really nice scoring numbers for Lenoir City over the past two years. She lefty has really developed as a shooter, and knows how to create space to get her shot off. Really bouncy ball handler that examines picks her spots well. Nice foot work when she gets to the rim. Can score off 1 or 2 feet. Strong frame. Most defensive gameplans vs LC are dedicated to primarily stopping her. Competes on both ends. Big upside and continues to get better.

Gresham is an incredibly athletic combo guard that helped lead Lenoir City to its best season in a over a decade. In an important February game vs East Hamilton, she led LC with 28 points, and hit the game winner with :08 seconds left going end to end for the finish–showcasing her quickness and willingness to take big shots as a freshman. In a 2 point win over Fulton, she hit the game clinching FTs with 7.1 seconds.
What this tells me is that on a veteran laden Lenoir City team, Coach Brad Cochran (now at Concord) was confident that his freshman Gresham would make the right play in crucial moments. Greshman is poised for a breakout statistical season as LC graduated a lot of contributors, and she is well suited to pick up the slack.
