These 5 guards were added because I caught them at not only Prep Girls Hoops events, on the circuit, tournaments, or INDIVIDUAL SHOWCASES, or maybe just some other event I have listed on my website. It’s not that hard, no, I don’t have time to look at thousands of videos for free, that makes no sense because one more time, I am a REAL EVALUATOR and these young ladies went off several times in front of me, “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” as well as “who you do it in front of”
#30 Taylor Spencer Taylor Spencer 5'8" | PG Cleveland | 2024 State TX -5’8 PG (Cleveland) Houston Lady Nets
Spencer was how can I say this, mesmerizing at times, and when you can take over a game without scoring, that’s HUGE. Her defense, whether it was “on the ball” baseline to baseline, forcing players into traps as well as committing turnovers, she JUST DID IT all, that includes playing the passing lane. On the flip, she saw the floor, dropped the stop and pop in transition, and created her shot under pressure but those acrobatic finishes which highlighted her body control were very nice.
#41 DaNae Crosby DaNae Crosby 5'6" | PG Braswell | 2024 State TX -5’6 PG (Braswell) Team Stay Ready
Crosby falls into that “never takes a play off” category and her “all-out” effort on both ends was #THROWBACK at its best. Her smothering defense had me sweating from the sideline, she dove for loose balls, and battled for rebounds against taller players yet she also was VOCAL on the court, another lost art. Her jumper was consistent, mid to long range and her first step enabled her to get by defenders with ease, finishing strongly after contact
#59 Grace Booth Grace Booth 5'10" | SG Glen Rose | 2024 State TX – 5’10 SG ( HICO) West Texas Shockers
Booth made a Tip Sheet after watching her last 5 minutes of a game at an event I covered yet at the PGH Top 250 Expo, she brought the whole shebang. I love big guards that can shoot, that’s another profile I talk about often, but more importantly, college coaches love it too. She elevates with power and drops mid to long-range with a hand in her face but that same power applies to her attacking the rim and finishing strongly. She also rebounds, on both ends and does a good job defending
#65 Kamryn Wilson Kamryn Wilson 5'9" | CG Mansfield Timberview | 2024 State TX – 5’6 CG ( Mansfield Timberview) Lady Jets 3SSB
Wilson was caught once by me at a PGH Tournament yet as a great college coach told me once “it only takes me a couple of minutes to know a player” and that’s all I needed. She created her shot in the set to drop it while being tightly guarded but she also attacked off the dribble with either hand and finished, with either hand. Solid ball handling coupled with threading the needle for assists create problems for defenders
#74 Stacey Williams Stacey Williams 5'2" | PG South Oak Cliff | 2024 State TX – 5’4 PG ( South Oak Cliff) Sky Diggs Elite
Williams falls into another profile I love, which I hashtagged and that’s #sizedontmatter, when you can play. Well, she definitely can play and her DSWB, speed with the ball, was a joy to see at the PGH Top 250 Expo. She hit teammates from 20 feet without breaking a stride, in traffic yet she also showed a nice pull-up jumper both in the set as well in transition. She scored acrobatically off the dribble and was a terror on defense
