Give a good hand for the girls we believe are defensive geniuses and how they interact with their teams on the defensive side of the ball.
6’2, SF, Mater Dei HS, Jenessa Cotton Jenessa Cotton 6'2" | SF Mater Dei | 2024 State CA – Jenessa is long and agile, she is quick and has great hands and timing to block shots on the court. She can run you down and block your shot or she can contain you and make you take a bad shot and block it. She is a great team player and is always willing to take a charge from a reckless guard coming into the paint uncontrolled.
5’11, CG, St. Marys Stockton HS, Jordan Lee Jordan Lee 5'9" | SG St. Marys Stockton | 2024 State CA – Jordan is quite a scorer on offense, she can get buckets in a variety of ways, but she is also known as an aggressive defender on the court. She has long arms and uses her athleticism to terrorize her oppoents on the defensive side of the floor. She can run opponents down in transition or she can cut them off and get steals. She is a problem on the defensive end as well.
6’3, C, Crossroads HS, Me’Arah O’Neal Me’Arah O’Neal 6'3" | C Crossroads | 2024 State CA – Me’Arah is incredible, she is the daughter of a great shot blocker and terrorizer of men on the court, like her father, she posessess the strength, timing and agility to be a great shot blocker. She is quick and can run the floor like a gazelle to block shots or get deflections for easy turnovers. She makes you take bad shots and makes you run out the shot clock to get turnovers as well.
5’8, PG, St, Anthonys HS, Ryann Bennett Ryann Bennett 5'6" | PG St. Anthony | 2024 State CA – Ryann is another type of defender, she can be aggressive on defense and make you turn the ball over with simple containment. She is quick, she is smart and plays with a high IQ, but one thing she does well is talk on defense and play it with a purpose. She can block shots, get steals or create deflections on the court, this makes her a prize for any coach needing a guard that is aggressive on the ball.
