As the season is about to start, we look at some of the quality players on the Space Coast that were under the radar last season, but could “blast off” this upcoming season.
Tricia Carmer Tricia Carmer 6'0" | PF Viera | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 6’0 PF / Viera
Last season, Carmer averaged 3.2 points per game and 5.4 rebounds. Carmer has versatility to her game and showcased her all-around game during the Southeast Showcase over the summer. Carmer initiated fastbreaks and even took a few coast-to-coast. She showed great court vision and was impressive at advancing the basketball up the court. She is a good rebounder and has a knack for being around the ball. Carmer played well during the showcase and stood out while playing against some very good competition. She is a player to watch and she does have the tools to have a breakout season.
Ni’ana Hill Ni’ana Hill 5'7" | SF Palm Bay Magnet | 2024 State FL / 2024 / 5’6 SG / Palm Bay
Hill averaged 2.1 points per game as a Junior at Palm Bay. Hill was a standout over some Fall events I attended, including the Southeast Showcase in Melbourne. Hill’s athleticism and skillset were impressive. She handled the ball well and showcased her play-making abilities. Hill can take it to the rim, she can shoot the ball from the mid-range area, and she can shoot the jumper from behind the arc. Defensively, Hill has quick feet, moves well laterally, and has good speed. She is poised to have a good season and should provide additional scoring for a loaded Palm Bay team.
Nyla Patrizio Nyla Patrizio 6'2" | C Cocoa | 2024 FL / 2024 / 6’2″ C / Cocoa
If there is a player on the Space Coast who is ready for liftoff, it is Patrizio. Patrizio has played well in all of the Fall showcases and open gyms that she has participated in. She has shown a lot of explosion to her game and has really been aggressive at attacking the basket. Patrizio has a mixture of power and finesse to her game. She has very good footwork and can shoot the ball well from the midrange area and can also play physical and through contact. Patrizio rebounds well on both ends of the court. Last season she averaged 4.3 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. Patrizio has the talent to approach a double-double and definitely the skills to come from under the radar.
Autumn Thomas Autumn Thomas 5'10" | SF Palm Bay | 2024 State FL / 2024 / 6’0 SF / Palm Bay
Thomas has shown great promise over the past few times I have seen her. Her ability to play inside and outside with her height is very impressive. Thomas showed that she can shoot the ball from the outside and she can also score on the inside. At the Southeast Showcase, Thomas ran the floor very well and scored often in transition. Thomas also stepped behind the arc and knocked down a three and knocked down a few midrange jumpers in the paint. Thomas is a versatile player and she will be playing a larger role in her Junior season.
Nakayla Green Nakayla Green 5'4" | PG Cocoa | 2023 State FL / 2023 / 5’3 PG / Cocoa
Green (cover photo) showed a lot of leadership and ability during the Southeast Showcase. Her handles were very good and she controlled the flow like a true point guard. Last season the 5’3 guard averaged 7.4 points per game and knocked down 28 threes for the season. Green has the ability to build off of last year’s season. She will be a player to watch in her senior campaign.
