Sophia is an extremely long, wiry-strong frontline prospect who has flashed nice upside for the next level. She runs the floor North/South well, she tries to be physical, despite needing more strength, plus she has some touch in the mid-post and the short corners. Defensively, she is quite the deterrent protecting the paint, but she also has range and can pursue rebounds outside of her area. Additionally, she commits time to softball, so more than anything, she just needs to spend time getting more reps against quality hoops competition.

Sophie is a long, wiry-strong, somewhat versatile face-up ‘5’ type of prospect. She saw a little time as a Freshman, but she was still growing and developing strength. Starting her Sophomore year, however, she came out and has been much more impactful since. She is playing with a lot more confidence and aggression, and she has the ability to make the 15-foot jumper or put it on the floor from the mid-post and attack defenders. She is very active defensively as well, blocking/altering shots and pursuing rebounds outside of her area. She could still stand to add some strength, but she is immensely different from when I first saw her 16 months ago. Sophie is also a talented softball player.

Sophia sort of came out of nowhere for the Lady Eels this Winter. She went from rarely used to center of attention under a new regime, and she flashes a great deal of upside/potential for the next level. She has grown rapidly and looks to still have another inch or two left in her, plus she is very wiry but tries to play physical. Once she’s done growing, she has an athletic frame, so I think she will add good strength to her frame. She also has some skill inside of 15-feet and can post or make plays off the bounce, but she is equally effective as a rotating defender in the paint.

Sophia had an outstanding year for the Lady Eels, and she really “put herself on the map” this Winter. She is tremendously long, fluidly athletic, and she might still be growing. She will need to add some strength for sure, but she has solid instincts, plays with a motor, and at least tries to be physical. With her playing major grassroots basketball for the first time, it should really help her adjust to the speed and size of the game. It should be fun to watch her growth the next couple of years.
