Day 1 @ NXT LVL NSH Girls!

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As the holiday season continues, teams around the state have traveled near and far to compete against competition they normally wouldn't face. In the city of Nashville, CPA hosted the Nxt LVL Hoopfest. Today, mid-state teams were in action going toe to toe. Here are some standouts from the event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>CPA&nbsp; Lady Lions vs. PCA Lady Lions</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Great matchup from former district opponents. This game was back and forth until the lady lions from Murfreesboro (PCA) pulled it out. The PCA team is talented with three phenomenal girls who are great two way players. Pure hustlers, these girls find a way to get it down.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='405709' first='Daisy' last='Gale'] (G/Jr./ PCA)</strong>- Such a player. Plays with a high motor. Led her PCA team with 22 pts today. Great multi-level scoring threat who is always in attack mode. From knocking down clutch shots from the perimeter to getting in the lane, this kid is tough to defend.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='285372' first='Mia' last='Alexander'] (G/Sr./PCA)</strong>- Scrappy player who can score the rock. Does the little things to propel her team to victory. From grabbing rebounds, making the assist, and defending, this kid is a coach's dream as she does things that are asked of her. Scoring the rock is a plus, she does the intangible things that you can't coach. Had 21 today for her club.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='285369' first='Abby' last='McFarland'] (G/Sr./PCA)</strong>- Found the bottom of the net time and time again. All around player who plays with such grit. The Lee Commit played selfless as she hit shots and found open teammates for buckets. She defended well and caused havoc against a tough CPA Lady Lions club. Had 14 today in an outstanding effort.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='513275' first='Lily' last='Morrow'] (G/Fr./CPA)</strong>- Tough kid who had 12 pts in a great effort today against PCA. This kid is an absolute stud and is having a phenomenal freshman year. An inside out player who can get to the rim. From grabbing offensive rebounds and putting it back to knocking down the mid-range, this kid is an intrical part in the CPA Lady Lions attack.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='285382' first='Virginia' last='Glisson'] (PG/Sr./CPA)</strong>- Heady player who facilitates the ball. Knocked down a couple of 3 balls on her way to getting 12 pts today for her club. Such an efficient player who is great at running her team's offense. Establishes tempo and pace. She's great at drawing D to her and kicking it out to an open teammate. Poise with the ball, her ability to create opportunities for her teammates is impressive.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Siegel vs. Harding Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A Middle vs. West Tennessee matchup, the Siegel Stars prevailed 39-29. Both teams displayed toughness and grit as they battled it out on the hardwood. It was good to see this public vs. private matchup as both teams got better.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Fiona Mallory (F/So/ Siegel)</strong>- Led her team with 11pts from the field. Displayed a nice mid-range game and was a bucket in the painted area. Was tough on D as her club made it tough for Harding to score, eliminating gaps and controlling the boards. It was a coming out party for Fiona as she was on top of her game as the Stars look to create a buzz during this tournament.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Makyah Malone(G/Sr./ Harding Academy)</strong>- The senior is a go getter and continues to bring it nightly. A multi-level scoring threat who gets after it on both ends of the floor. The heartbeat of her club, she brings effort and energy everytime she steps on the floor. Though her team fell today in their game, she poured in 11pts from the field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Rockvale vs. Starkville Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lady Rockets continue on an upward trajectory as they are getting it down. The Lady Rockets were tough on D, creating transition buckets. Showing no rust from the Christmas break, the Lady Rockets were hungry to get back into action.Today was a collective effort as they beat Starkville Academy 61-22.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Tonie Davis (F/Sr./Rockvale)</strong>- The senior had a day today. Was tough on D, eliminating her opponent and establishing a presence on the board.Had a nice stroke as she dropped in 14 pts from the paint and the mid-range. The senior was on point as she brought energy to help lead the Lady Rockets to victory.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='409037' first='Ayeden' last='Wilkerson'] (F/So./Rockvale)</strong>- displayed a nice presence on the floor. Knocked down 3s as she went onto pour in 12 pts for her team. You can tell she is starting to get comfortable on the floor as her confidence level continues to grow. She didn't bat an eye as she let it go from beyond the arc.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
