It's going down in Bluff City. New Year, same strong hoop game. The ladies from the west side of the state, return back to action in their local market. The holiday season is a wrap, yet the girls from the 901 are ready to take flight as district play ramps up.

Tuesday saw some big-time matchups. Where there are big-time matchups, there are big-time players. From seniors to freshmen, the lady ballers were out ready to put on a show. As you all know, Memphis is a hoops town. Every game means more. You saw matchups that were about braggin rights, revenge, one-ups, and jockeying for position in the standings. It's getting good down there next to the Mississippi.

Here are some standouts from Tuesday's contests.

[player_tooltip player_id='409005' first='Zoey' last='Rixter'] (So./F/ Bartlett)- She brought her “A” game. Dropping 20 points against Houston. From the arc, from the mid-range, getting to the rack, Lady Z was putting in that work. Long and active on both ends of the floor, she used her length to create havoc. She was a problem on both ends of the floor as the Lady Panthers grabbed a dub on Tuesday night.

[player_tooltip player_id='290727' first='Anna' last='Lee Avery'] (Jr./SG/ Houston)- Though her team lost, she was in beast mode as she tried to will her team to victory. Dropping 29pts, she was hard to stop from the field. Didn't matter if she was behind the 3pt line or inside of it, the ball was going in. She had the shooter's touch. The marksman's eye. She's a special talent that continues to bring it nightly.

Alex Clemmons (Jr./PG/ Overton (Memphis))- Dropped 17 pts as she starred on the floor. A playmaking point guard, she was knocking down shots and making timely assists all evening. She was hungry on the defensive end, as she applied the pressure. Her tenacity and grit were on display as she made effective plays time and time again. Look for her to continue to make huge strides as the season progresses.

[player_tooltip player_id='245290' first='Makyah' last='Thomas-Malone'] (Sr./G/Harding Academy)- Hungry. Pure and simple. She was a big contributor to her team's overall score as she poured in 16pts from the field. She's a hard-nose player who plays with a lot of energy. She got after it as she and her club battled throughout the night. A 3-level scoring threat, she was willing and able to help her club in any way she could. Her team won 43-42 in an exciting game over FACS.

[player_tooltip player_id='496304' first='Daejah' last='Richmond'] (Sr./CG/ FACS)- An exciting hooper who excels with the ball in her hand. Daejah can get to the rack like no other. Dropped 22 in a losing effort to Harding Academy, but it was her who kept her team in the game time and time again. When she has the ball in her hands, good things seem to come. From knocking down shots to finding open teammates, she's a selfless player who gets a lot of attention, which frees up teammates. She's a dynamic scoring threat and great two-way player.

[player_tooltip player_id='405715' first='Takeria' last='Bailey'] (Jr./G/ Mitchell)- Dropped 19 pts as her club dominated Manassas. Her efforts were on display as she was getting to the rim and knocking down shots throughout the game. Active on the defensive end, she created havoc which led to east buckets going the other way.
[player_tooltip player_id='490590' first='Sydnei' last='Marshall'] (Sr./G/ Fayette-Ware)- Just an overall solid ball player. Dropped 18 pts in a winning effort against Union City. She just doesn't score the rock, but contributes in many statistical categories for her team. From making timely assists to grabbing boards, she is all over the court on both ends of the floor. Her leadership and hard work goes unnoticed as she is the heartbeat of her club.
