A great day of basketball and great games indeed that those in attendance got to watch. Here are some of the standouts of the day that you should be keeping an eye on down the stretch here in the Garden State.
Alyssa Craigwell Alyssa Craigwell 5'9" | SF Secaucus | 2024 State NJ – Secaucus (2024)
The junior once again showed up and showed out for Secaucus on Sunday, scoring a game-high 19 points in the win, her sixth-straight game with 15 or more points scored. She’s also knocked down at least one three pointer and recorded 2.3 steals per game over that stretch.
Madison McCarthy – Pascack Valley (2023)
The senior has really made an impact in her first season with Pascack Valley and Sunday’s performance might have been her best of the season, with 18 points and three made 3-pointers as PV prevailed over Ramsey in a 43-38 win. Having that veteran leadership goes a long way to help down the stretch.
Daniela Peschetti – Secaucus (2023)
Peschetti has become one of the better passers in the region over the past few games. Sunday was another example of that, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds and seven assists. It’s her third game with at least six assists in her last four for Secaucus.
Melissa Brennan Melissa Brennan 5'5" | SG Old Tappan | 2023 State NJ – Old Tappan (2023)
Senior standouts seemed to be incredibly commonplace on Sunday, with Brennan doing just that for Old Tappan. The guard knocked down three 3-pointers en route to a 14-point day. She’s hit 33 in 13 games for Old Tappan this season, including a career-high eight on January 3.
Allie Shenloogian Allie Shenloogian 5'7" | CG Park Ridge | 2025 State NJ – Park Ridge (2025)
When you’re on the kind of tear that Shenloogian has been on this season, you get to be mentioned in more than one article for Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey. She was at it again on Sunday, scoring a game-high 19 points in a 41-33 win over Westwood. Shenloogian is currently averaging 22.2 points a game for Park Ridge this season.
Julia Hasenstab Julia Hasenstab SG Cresskill | 2024 State NJ – Cresskill (2024)
Hasenstab was electric from beyond the arc for Cresskill on Sunday, knocking down four 3-pointers to finish with a season-high 18 points, her first double-digit scoring performance of the season. She also had three blocks to go with that 18-point performance.
Maggie Harris Maggie Harris SF Glen Rock | 2024 NJ – Glen Rock (2024)
It’s seemingly been an inconsistent offensive season for Harris, but Sunday showed no indications of that, scoring 18 points while going a perfect 6-of-6 from the line for Glen Rock. Just a really impressive performance from the junior, who has stepped up quite a lot this season.
Isabella Asencio Isabella Asencio 5'4" | PG Immaculate Heart Academy | 2023 State NJ – Immaculate Heart (2023)
Asencio ended a tough two-game stretch with quite the performance for Immaculate Heart on Sunday against Sparta. The game of the day without a doubt saw the senior guard put up 18 points as she hit three 3-pointers for IHA. Asencio is averaging 15.2 PPG for Immaculate Heart this season.
Ally Sweeney Ally Sweeney 5'8" | SG Sparta | 2023 State NJ – Sparta (2023)
Sweeney took over for Sparta on Sunday, leading the team with 16 points while hauling in eight rebounds and recording five assists in a 52-49 win. It was her fourth game of five or more assists and her sixth game of 8+ rebounds on the year.
