It's difficult to ignore the stunning degree of excellence at the top of the Class of 2026. With [player_tooltip player_id='252381' first='Maddyn' last='Greenway'] of Providence Academy and [player_tooltip player_id='205310' first='Tori' last='Oehrlein'] of Crosby-Ironton rewriting the record books practically every week, we have a front row seat to something special. But there's plenty more to be excited about in this year's freshmen class. We announced our first Prep Girls Hoops ranking of the 2026s last fall – the Freshmen 50 – and now we're expanding this collection of budding stars to 75. The complete list is now available on the rankings tab. Today we'll highlight the nine athletes who raised their stock over the past few months. Tomorrow we'll introduce some of the key players among the newest 25.

Before we dive in let's issue a couple of friendly reminders about the Prep Girls Hoops rankings:

These rankings are based on a player's potential to excel in college basketball. They are not a ranking of current performance. That's why you'll find girls who have yet to dent a varsity roster ranked well ahead of players who are already making an impact in high school. That is a huge distinction.

Numerous people participate in the rankings process, including AAU coaches and directors, high school coaches, independent observers around the state, and college coaches from all levels. We seek feedback from as many sources as possible in order to form an opinion on a player's potential. We do our best to leave our biases at the gym door but we're human. Everyone who participates retains their anonymity.

Many different factors play into the selection process. Among the things we are looking for are athleticism, size, ball-handling, shooting ability, basketball IQ, speed and quickness, toughness and physicality, and a variety of intangibles such as body language and how players interact with their coaches, teammates and officials.

With those basics out of the way, here are the nine players who raised their stock in this first update cycle.

[player_tooltip player_id='515676' first='Samantha' last='Voll'] – guard, Monticello

We saw enough from Samantha last summer to see that she deserved a spot in the Freshmen 50. She's got length, a big wingspan and some serious hops. She sees the floor well, has a nice feel for the game and has more than enough athleticism to stand out on any court. What we've seen from Voll since the high school season began, however, is a cut or two above all that. The Magic hold a record of 12-4 and Samantha is leading a veteran-heavy team in scoring at 16 points per game. She's playing with poise and maturity and is leading by example. She's earned a big bump and now rises 16 places from #40 to #24.

[player_tooltip player_id='478366' first='Riley' last='Ang'] – guard, Rosemount

When Riley's on the court you'll often here the other team yelling ‘shoooooooter!' with that tell-tale panic in their voice, the one that lets you know there's a long-bomber of some repute in the vicinity. Yes, Riley can fire the rock. But as she's shown since the high school season began, Ang is capable of so much more. She's averaging nearly 10 points per game on a defense-first, veteran-laden squad. Riley bring energy on both sides of the ball, is handling varsity-level defensive pressure quite well, and isn't shy about stepping up to make big plays as needed. She's still got a lot to learn but Ang has earned a bump from #35 to #27.

[player_tooltip player_id='502605' first='Lilly' last='Tidrick'] – guard, Princeton

Lilly is a well-rounded guard with size and strength, a solid overall skill set, and the ability to defend players of all shapes and sizes and dispositions. As one look at Princeton's stats makes obvious, she can also put the ball in the basket. Last summer was a bit of a rollercoaster ride for Tidrick, if we're being honest, so we weren't really sure what to expect this winter. What Lilly has delivered, however, has been first-rate. She's leading the Tigers in scoring at nearly 15 points per game and is an alpha dog who brings her bite to the proceedings on a regular basis. Tidrick moves up four positions from #46 to #42.

[player_tooltip player_id='502610' first='Elli' last='Howard'] – guard, Wayzata

As we noted in our reminder bullets above, not everyone in the Class of 2026 rankings has made their mark on varsity just yet. In some cases that's because of physical maturity or coordination or the need for further skill development. In other cases, it's because they suited up on one of the deepest teams in the state. That's certainly the case for Elli. There are a ton of great guards at Wayzata and Howard is going to have to wait her turn. But with elite shooting ability, a really nice set of tools, and some bounce in her step, Howard has the raw materials to be great. Elli climbs three positions from #50 to #47.

[player_tooltip player_id='339214' first='Jayci' last='Rath'] – forward, Stewartville

Jayci is an elite talent. We already knew that which is why the long and lanky forward earned the #14 ranking last fall. All she's done this year for the 15-2 Tigers is get better and better and better every week. Jayci's leaping ability and reach are outstanding. Her sense of timing and innate rebounding capabilities are at an elite level. And the compete factor is off the charts. It's going to take some time for Jayci to mature physically, and hone her skill set to its potential, but this kid is a slam-dunk Division 1 prospect with a ton of upside. Rath moves up two spots from #14 to #12.

[player_tooltip player_id='478363' first='Maddy' last='Blaylark'] – guard, DeLaSalle

Crafty. Intelligent. Smooth. Those are the first adjectives that come to mind when we're talking about Blaylark. Competitive. Fierce. Scrappy. Those will work, too. Also skilled, quick and agile. And then there's the fact that she can fill up the basket on a regular basis. Add it all up and you have a solid D1 prospect who brings it every night of the week. Talk to her for even a few moments and you'll discover that her intangibles are off the charts, as well. Maddy is the real deal which is why she rises two spots from #22 to #20.

[player_tooltip player_id='498663' first='Madison' last='Ohm'] – guard, Rochester Century

There were times last summer when Ohm seemed a little hesitant to step into the spotlight and show us everything that she is capable of. This winter, however, the entire array of Maddie's assets have been on full display, which is a major reason why Rochester Century is undergoing a renaissance. Pure and simple, Maddie is an athlete. She has light feet, excellent quickness and the ability to make her way around the court with the best of them. Now she is showing the assertiveness and confidence that can elevate a player from good to great in short order. Best of all, she's just getting started. Ohm moves up two positions from #23 to #23.

[player_tooltip player_id='478362' first='Morgan' last='Korf'] – guard, Pelican Rapids

There are some great point guards in the Class of 2026, from Greenway and Oehrlein to [player_tooltip player_id='471360' first='Mya' last='Moore'] (Orono), [player_tooltip player_id='458305' first='Audrey' last='Shindelar'] (Stewartville), [player_tooltip player_id='344332' first='Kate' last='Holmquist'] (Maple Grove) and more. But you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who navigates the floor general role better than Korf. She's just smart. And smooth. And skillful. We love the way she establishes tempo and controls a game, and we love her no-nonsense, all-business attitude on the floor. Morgan rises one position from #17 to #16.

[player_tooltip player_id='478365' first='Audrey' last='Schmidtke'] – guard, Lakeville South

Our final stock riser is one of the best pure athletes in the class. Audrey is quick and fast, speedy and strong and competes as hard as anyone. What she might lack in elite skill she more than makes up for by being an absolute bulldog on the floor. We said intangibles are important, things like attitude and effort and a team-first mindset, and Audrey has them all. With raw materials like that there's no telling how good she can get. Schmidtke is a long-term prospect who rises one place from #27 to #26.
