has been a tough time for team’s to play against this season for her Senior campaign. Kelly, the 5’10 SF, is currently leading her team in PPG by a mile and doing everything else she can around the floor to help the cause. Kelly might be a Post but she is also leading her team in APG with just under two, demonstrating that she can facilitate out of the inside of the lane at any given moment. Others will need to step up if Benton wants to make a big playoff run in the near future but for now, they will just keep doing their thing before we get into Post season action.

of Benton Community committed last week. Kelly is a PF at 5’10 that moves pretty well. She is someone at the Varsity level the really thrives in the middle but it’ll be interesting to see how she builds on that over her next 4-5 years. Kelly is already pretty knowledgable about how things work in the lane. She knows how to control stuff when she has time and space next the basket offensively, while being a sound defender in-between the blocks. On the college floor Kelly will most likely be a 3/4 but only time will tell.

17U picked up another offer after this past weekend. This time to Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Kelly is a 5’10 PF with more versatility than you might imagine. She does a good job of holding her own in her matchups under the hoop but she can also step out and be a viable option with action happening out at the three point line. It’s looking like Kelly is being recruited primarily at the D3 level so I wouldn’t be surprised if Coe ends up being one of her top choices. It’s a program coming off of a fantastic season as a whole.

of Benton Community High School was recently mentioned last week for her breakout performances to start the 2024 – 2025 High School season with her Bobcats program. Kelly is a dominant force near the hoop, that can handle her own on both ends. She is someone that is a main producer within her team’s offense and she also plays a pivotal role in their success on the defensive end as well. I expect Kelly to continue to put up great numbers the next year and half. If she stays on this pace, I’m sure there is going to be a handful of recruiters that should be reaching out to her, throughout the Midwest at the least.

Sometimes as a player in this sport, you can only do so much. It’s not what everyone wants to hear but it’s the reality of the situation. Although Benton Community came up short against the Regina Regals this past week, that didn’t stop

from putting together an impressive contest. A contest in which she recorded 28 Points (10/16), 7 Rebounds, 3 Steals, 2 Assists, with 0 Turnovers. The final ended up being 43-76, so she recorded a majority of their points and overall positive statistics. Kelly has some talent with better than average size at 5’10. She is a Forward that is usually a mismatch compared to her competition, so it makes sense that they runs everything through her, most of the time.

Benton Community is going to be looking forward their next big producer for years to come since they lose a lot of their past production due to graduation. Someone that looks like they are going to make the most of their opportunities is 5’10 SF –

in the middle. Kelly will be their primary player near the hoop, while being versatile enough to move to the outside and screen if need be. When she does screen, she understands how to seal an opponent and roll to the basket or she can pop for a little mid-range, if given adequate time. Like I said, Benton is going to be looking for their next hero these first few weeks. I think that with Kelly’s skill-set, mixed with her demeanor, that she could be that hero they need.
