Class "A" State All-Tournament Team

The High School Basketball Season has wrapped up for the 22'-23' season and the Grand Forks Red River Roughriders have claimed the Class "A'' title for the first time in 30+ years knocking off the Century Patriots 61-48. Over the weekend there was some great games, followed by some impressive performances from some of the best talent in North Dakota. This years all tourney team is interesting, but loaded with some serious talent across the board. You have young talent, experienced talent and veteran players who have left huge shoes to fill. Individually each one of these players have left us with some amazing games, stand out performances and their names will be mentioned for years to come, not to mention the younger ones who are already making fans jaws drop with their skills. Let's take a look at this North Dakota Class "A" All-Tournament Team.   [player_tooltip player_id='240861' first='Jocelyn' last='Schiller']: Grand Forks Red River- If you could sum up Schillers weekend in one word, it would be phenomenal. The Junior was an absolute handful to handle offensively and defensively alike and really showcased her scoring abilities on the floor. Schiller went off with 21 Points vs Minot, 26 Points vs West Fargo and a whopping 34 Points in the State Championship game vs Century connecting on 18/21 of her shots with an average of 27PPG. The UND Commit is all around impressive on both sides of the floor, the way she controls the tempo of the game, attacks the rim and makes tough finishes look easy is incredible. In my opinion, Schiller is the best Point Guard in North Dakota, and I don't think anyone would argue with that, she was also selected Tournament MVP.   Cassidy O'Holloran: Grand Forks Red River- Cassidy came into the tournament ready to battle, and ready to bring home a Championship back to Grand Forks, and her performance throughout the tournament helped secure that. Over the tournament she nearly averaged a Double-Double and led the Roughriders in rebounds. O'Holloran was also the 2nd leading scorer for the Roughriders and in the Championship game she had 3 3-Pointers, 7 Rebounds and tallied up 10points. Over the course of the season O'Hollorans game got better and better, and was one of the leaders on the court offensively and defensively alike. With her coming back next year along with Schiller there is no doubt Grand Forks Red River will be coming back strong and looking for another Championship. She is talented, has a ton of upside to her game, and next year she will come back even better.   [player_tooltip player_id='215744' first='Miriley' last='Simon']: West Fargo- The NDSU Commit put on an absolute show in the paint over the weekend. Simon is an all-around gifted post who has a motor that does not stop and impacts the game massively on both ends of the floor. Over the tournament she averaged 19.6PPG (5th best of the tourney), led the tourney in rebounding with 11.3RPG and put up an impressive 26Points vs the Bismarck Demons. When you watch Simon play, she plays hard every minute she's on the floor, and is aggressive as you can get. When it comes to scoring inside, pulling down rebounds and blocking shots she is who you want on the floor all game long. Theres a reason Jory Collins wanted her, and she showed exactly why this weekend....she can flat out play, and make you pay in the paint!   [player_tooltip player_id='211403' first='Chloe' last='Pfau']: West Fargo- One of the elite scorers in the EDC came back this year, and picked up right where she left off. Pfau is without question one of the top players in the state and everything about her game is top notch. Pfau's ability to see and feel the court really stands out, if she isn't scoring, she is setting her team up to score. Over the weekend Pfau averaged 16.3PPG and 9.3RPG (#4 of the tourney), and was a focal point behind the Packers offense and defense. Pfau is an all-around hardworking athlete who comes in every game ready to go to work, and she does just that. She can score, rebound, steal and block some would say she is a complete package. I have no doubt her future at UMary will be bright, and there is no question Coach Neumann is getting a good one to say the least.   [player_tooltip player_id='240340' first='Brenna' last='Dick']: West Fargo Sheyenne- Brenna really came out this year and showed everyone what kind of damage she can do on the floor. Over the weekend she averaged 17.3PPG (4th in the tourney) and tallied up 25Points vs Bismarck Century. Brenna is one of the top shooters/scorers in the EDC and averaged 19.9PPG during the season. Her ability to score from inside or out really stands out, she can drive the lane and make it look effortless, or shoot from outside and knock um' down with ease. The one thing that really stood out about Brenna was over the year, she was always improving and getting better and better each game. Over the course of the season the numbers she was able to put up on the court oftentimes were staggering, including setting new school records and connecting her 3Pointers over 6-7x in a single game. She's an all around gifted player that has proven to everyone she can put up big numbers against any team. She still has another year under her belt, and to think of what she is going to do next year is exciting to say the least.   [player_tooltip player_id='213379' first='Alyssa' last='Eckroth']: Bismarck Legacy- There isn't enough good things to say about Alyssa on the court or off the court. But on the court, she can be a complete terror for an offense with her shooting abilities, drawing fouls as she drives to the basket, and her ability to knock down free throws is second nature to her. At 6' she is one of those players that is adaptable on the front court, or in the paint as well. Towards the end of the season Eckroth really broke out, and was a big-time asset with her scoring abilities in the WDA and State Tournament alike. Over the course of the weekend Eckroth averaged 21.3PPG, (3rd leading scorer in the tournament) with a game high of 27Points vs Minot High, and ended her High School career reaching the 1000 Point mark in her final game and comes in as the 2nd All-Time leading scorer for Legacy High School with 1011Points. With the work ethic like she has, and a relentless mindset to always improve, Western Colorado is getting not only a good player..but leader as well.   [player_tooltip player_id='379041' first='Lee' last='Lee Bell']: Minot High- Coming in as the #1 scorer for the tournament at 28.7PPG and a game high of 38 points vs a scrappy Bismarck Demons is Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='379041' first='Lee' last='Lee Bell']. Bell is gifted to say the least, and some would consider "unstoppable" on the court. At 6'3'' she is a menace inside, but also doubles as a point guard/shooting guard as well. Over the last 2 years she has proven to be deadly from 20-25' but also has excellent footwork and skills on the inside to pull down rebounds, and finish at the rim on offense. There is not enough good things to say about her abilities on the court, and the time she puts in to perfecting her game. She's talented, young and hungry to be one of the best to come out of North Dakota. What her future holds is hard to say, but with what she is doing now and what she is capable of...is scary to think about.   [player_tooltip player_id='100420' first='Bergan' last='Kinnebrew']: Century High- The last name Kinnebrew is a familiar name within the Basketball community in North Dakota, and for all the right reasons. If your a Kinnebrew 2 things come to mind, relentless and skilled. The level of composure and skill Bergan brings to the floor is nothing short of impressive. She is all around a fantastic athlete that spends hours in the gym working on her game 365 days a year, and she has proven she is one of the best in North Dakota. The Ms.Basketball Finalist, Co-WDA Senior Athlete of the year and First-Team all stater averaged 16.3PPG during the tournament and was the #2 leading scorer for the Patriots. The milestones she has accomplished over her career are impressive, and what she has done on the floor will be talked about for years to come. She will be headed to UMary in the Fall to play for Coach Neumann along with Pfau, in a team that is going to be stacked with talent. Her future will be fun to watch, and there is no doubt she will have a bright future at Umary.   [player_tooltip player_id='100419' first='Logan' last='Nissley']: Century High- Nissley will forever go down as one of the most talented, decorated and best Girls Basketball Player to every come out of North Dakota. What she can do on the floor, and ability to score at any angle has been fun to watch over the last 4 years. No stranger to the State Tournament Nissley came in ready to work, and did just that. She averaged 17.3PPG/4.7RPG and shot 42.5% over the weekend connecting on 17/42 shots, including leading the tournament with 11 3-Pointers (5 in one game alone). Her scoring abilities are off the charts and her quick release makes her a menace for anyone to contain, she is hands down one of the best shooters we will see for a longtime coming, and the North Dakota Ms.Basketball winner is only getting started. Next year she is off to Nebraska, and what she will do there is exciting to think about. I think most people can agree, it has been a pleasure watching you play these last 4 years.   [player_tooltip player_id='341476' first='Eden' last='Fridley']: Century High- If there was an award for the most improved/impactful player in the WDA I would have to say Fridley is a front runner for that. In a team composed of 2 of the best players in North Dakota Fridley really stepped up and showcased her talents on the floor when Nissley missed games due to injury. Her confidence has skyrocked over the season and her ability to put up points really made her stand out for the Patriots during season, and in the post season. At the State Tournament Fridley shot 44%, averaged 2.7 assists, and averaged 9.0PPG and was a big piece to the Patriots team all season long. Fridley is an all-around talented athlete on the court who can do a little bit of everything, and does it well. She is only a Junior this year, and has another season left with the Patriots. Next year I expect her to be a focal point for the Patriots and be the "General" leading the charge back to another State Championship appearance. She is always getting better, and her Senior season will be exciting to watch.
