Border War 2023-Cream Rises To The Top

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I attended the 2023 version of the Border War Tournament in Springdale. This two-day event was loaded with top-notch talent from multiple states. The following is a list I consider as "best of the bunch" this past weekend;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='453168' first='Kaitlyn' last='McCarn']-Oklahoma Shock-</strong>Kaitlyn, above handling the ball, made the most significant impact in every game for the Shock this past weekend. She's strong with the ball and is the spark that starts the engine. She plays solid defense and has a very high basketball IQ. In my view, she was the best player on the court in each and every game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='304687' first='Delaney' last='Roller']-Arkansas Hoop Life 2024-</strong>Delaney is a streak shooter. She's super quick and moves very well without the ball to find her spot. She has a quick shooting release and is fast enough to get out in transition for the high-percentage basket. Delaney plays downhill the entire game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='314542' first='Kayden' last='Porter']-Arkansas Angels 2024-</strong>A clear mismatch at the guard position, Kayden can take advantage of smaller opponents both inside the paint and outside on the perimeter. She can shoot the three but prefers to drive and attack the basket. In my view, her anticipation on defense and quickness on offense made her one of the top performers at this high-level event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='870518' first='Donna' last='Douglas'] 6'0" P 2024 Jonesboro Nettleton H.S.-Arkansas JBLadyBallers-</strong>Douglas is a back-to-the-basket scorer, but her biggest asset is her quickness and footwork. She is a huge space-eater inside and is very quick to the ball. She can get off the floor and rebound and plays very hard with an excellent attitude. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='453205' first='Riley' last='Gottsponer']-Arkansas Angels 2024-</strong>Gottsponer is versatile in that she can post up or play the point, or anything in between. Very hard to guard, she's strong and her size is a clear disadvantage for the opponent. Her floor balance is excellent.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='525595' first='Marleigh' last='Sellars']-Arkansas Hoop Life 2024-</strong>Marleigh is very efficient with the ball. She just does not turn it over. She can hit the three-ball or score inside when needed. Her confidence level is outstanding and when it's crunch time she delivers. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All of these ladies will play at the next level in the future. Some have already signed and many others will by the end of their senior year.
