Time flies fast on the recruiting trail in New Jersey as over the past week or so, maybe 10 days, we've seen a number of offers, commitments, visits, and more recruiting news. It's so much that we had to split up our update into two different parts, the first of which coming in this article.

Colonia's [player_tooltip player_id='155450' first='Mattison' last='Chiera'] (2023) commits to William Patterson

It was only a matter of time before Colonia senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='155450' first='Mattison' last='Chiera'] got offers and love from college scouts. A fantastic senior season put her in the driver's seat, and on April 30, she committed to Division III school William Patterson.

https://x.com/matti_chiera21/status/1652660325743747072?s=20

Chiera is far from the first recruit this season and in recent seasons to stay in-state, and her resume at Colonia speaks for itself: 1,500 points, 160 three-pointers, 630 rebounds and 252 steals in 97 career games. Last season, she averaged 14.9 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 1.8 APG in 28 games, knocking down 46 three-pointers and recording 2.3 steals per game.

Rutgers Prep's GiGi Battle (2026) offered by Maryland

Battle has made the rounds in the recruiting cycle in New Jersey, and after receiving numerous offers in our last update, she received her biggest one to date from Big Ten power Maryland on May 1.

https://x.com/gigi_battle2026/status/1653061127117389824?s=20

The Terps just came off their first Elite Eight appearance since the 2015 season and should be a top-10 team to start next season. Adding a versatile piece like Battle to the program in a few year's time would further solidify a continuously impressive backcourt. Last season, Battle averaged 9.9 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 1.5 APG for the Argos along with 11 blocks, 50 steals and 22 three-pointers. She's one of the most complete players already in the 2026 class.

Newark Central's [player_tooltip player_id='325186' first='Faith' last='Fedd-Robinson'] (2024) offered by Temple, Hofstra

The college offers continue to pile up for the junior standout from Newark Central, and Fedd-Robinson can add two more to the list after being offered this week by Division I teams Hofstra and Temple.

https://x.com/faithr2024/status/1653806081267707911?s=20

https://x.com/faithr2024/status/1653069213450350592?s=20

It's difficult to find a more complete player than her in the 2024 class, in all of New Jersey in general and amongst forwards in the country. After an insane sophomore year, Fedd-Robinson backed that up with a 20.1 PPG, 13 RPG average, her third-straight year averaging a double-double. She also had 4.3 APG, 4.8 BPG and 4.5 SPG in 28 games. Currently, she is less than 150 rebounds away from 1,000 for her career, and she also has over 300 blocks and 300 steals.

St. Thomas Aquinas's [player_tooltip player_id='414407' first='Leah' last='Crosby'] (2025) offered by Fordham

It seems that the 6-1 forward has been a hot button topic amongst college programs looking to get some size on their team. Crosby received an offer from Fordham on May 2, which looks to be her first Division I offer so far.

https://x.com/leah_crosby2025/status/1653527767680516098?s=20

This has been something in the making for her, coming off a career year across the board with 11.2 PPG, 9.5 RPG and 1.1 APG in 29 games. Crosby also had nearly a block a game and 2.2 SPG this season for the Trojans. Her growth on the basketball court has been fun to watch and her natural size and wingspan have made her a nightmare to deal with down low. After just nearly missing double-double averages last season, that should be well within the cards for her next season.

Mainland's [player_tooltip player_id='488762' first='Kasey' last='Bretones'] (2024) offered by UMass, Fairleigh Dickinson

The breakout was coming and the breakout came for the Mainland junior, and this week, she was rewarded accordingly with two Division I offers from UMass and Fairleigh Dickinson.

https://x.com/BretonesKasey/status/1653500159618174980?s=20

https://x.com/BretonesKasey/status/1653500550007214097?s=20

Bretones averaged nearly 12.0 PPG in 28 games for Mainland, one of the more complete guards in the Cape Atlantic League and a big reason why the Mustangs finished with a 26-3 record, losing in the NJSIAA Group III South Jersey final. She led Mainland in scoring and is bound to have an even better season as a senior, as the Mustangs will have four massive impact seniors on next year's roster.
