This past weekend, AIM Sportsplex in Seal Beach, CA played host to the Summer Classic presented by West Coast Elite. The event was held from July 6-9 and featured some of the top travel teams in Southern California as well as some out of state teams. I was able to attend the event on Sunday, Jul 9 and I focused on as many of the CA teams I could watch. Here's a look at some additional standouts I saw.

1. [player_tooltip player_id='756881' first='Aniyah' last='Offutt'] - Corona Centenial/Aim High Lady Ballers Red 17U 2024

This was my first event seeing Offutt play live and she stood out as a good combo guard. One of the better ball-handlers I saw. She has a good balance between being a playmaking guard and a scoring guard. Able to start the break and push the pace in transition. Can get downhill and attack. In the halfcourt she comes off screens well and attacks the mismatch off a switch. Also able to hit the pull-up from midrange.

2. [player_tooltip player_id='104786' first='Jailynn' last='Clayton'] - San Joaquin Memorial/Paul George Elite 17U Select 2024

Clayton is a flat out scorer. One of the best I saw at getting buckets. She's a good ball-handler and gets to where she wants to go on the court. Good crossover. She has a quick first step with burst and consistently beats her defender off the dribble; finishes strong at the basket. She's a blur in transition, pushing the ball and getting downhill.

3. [player_tooltip player_id='901271' first='Avery' last='Pintens'] - El Segundo Middle School/West Coast Elite 15U LA 2028

Pintens isn't in high school yet but she stood out with her off-ball movement. Most of her points that I saw came from her moving in the halfcourt and getting open. Good shooter from three off the catch. Defenders respect her jumper and she's able to put the ball on the floor and attack closeouts. She can kick the ball out too when she drives. Slight, but able to draw contact at the basket.

4. Deja Smith - Watts Skillz Academy Black 15U 2027

Smith stood out for her shooting ability. She was one of the best shooters I saw this weekend. She was consistent from both the midrange and from the three-point line. She can shoot off the dribble in the halfcourt. If the defense sags off her, she can shoot the three and she can step in a little bit and dribble into her shot. Showed off a little playmaking in transition.
