The definition of a shooting guard, French was one of the key reasons that the Griffins will make their second straight appearance in Lincoln. In Gretna East’s 69-56 win over Northwest, French made big bucket after big bucket as the Griffins didn’t shake the Vikings until the final two minutes. She scored 24 points (on six triples). For the season, the Nebraska-Kearney commit is averaging just under 11 points per contest.

The Griffins took their balanced attack out west for the Western Conference tournament last weekend in Scottsbluff. An interesting scheduling quirk that helped the league get an 8-team tournament. In three wins, including a 63-37 win over Sidney in the finals French averaged just under 11 points per contest. The UNK commit is averaging 11.3 points a game for Gretna East, which is ranked third in Class B.

will place within the system at UNK when she finally gets there following this next season. French is a crafty SG, who has good size and understanding of situational awareness for her position. She moves off the ball really well in open space, always using screens to her advantage whenever she can. She prefers to come off the catch to shoot the ball but in reality, she can let it fly from anywhere and it always seems like it’s going in off the release. Gretna East will standout with their guard play this Winter and French will be a main reason because of that.

is going to look to mark her mark at UNK when she gets there in a calendar year but prior to that, she is going to look to carry Gretna East to a big Winter ahead. French makes some big plays when it matters. She has shown that ability off the past couple of years on the road with her AAU program. When you pair that, along with size at 5’10, coordination, and a willingness to get better day-in and day-out, you get a competitor and that’s what we have here. French leaves it all the floor, she puts up decent numbers, and she shows her worthy every time she takes the varsity floor. That’s something she is going to be able to look back and be proud of at the end of the day. No matter what.

The first Top 10 rated prospect out of the 2026 Class in NE to commit to the next level is

at the SG position. French committed last week to UNK to compete at the next level. This is a nice fit for both parties in my book. The player has good size for her position, she can defend her own position at a high rate, and she is adaptable in multiple situations. If she is used in the correct way in this system it should lead to some constant production over her career. She has put together a nice career up until this point and I’m sure this is just the start.

Gretna East made a big run this Winter and had a very successful season as a whole. Someone that did a great job of chipping in all season long was SG,

. French comes into this Update as the #7 overall prospect out of her 2026 Class in Nebraska, along with being the #3 rated Shooting Guard. French has a quick release on her jumper off of the catch, she has better than average length that helps her reach while attacking the defense, and she doesn’t force too many unnecessary actions. Whether that’s in the passing or shooting categories. This should be a big Spring season for French on the road with her
Nebraska Attack
program. She can be a game-changer so it’ll be exciting to follow along these next few months.

of Gretna East High School has put together a respectable AAU season up until this point. As of most recent, French got offered by UNK Kearney to compete at the next level following her high school career but she still has a lot of time before her final decision on this subject is made. I think that French is going to get a lot of interest from collegiate recruits during this last live month of the 2024 AAU season. French will be on a team competing for a UA national championship before this month comes to an end. As long as she plays her game and the others around her play to their strengths, they are going to have a shot to shock the country and I can’t wait to see what they can put together before everything is said and done.

brings to the table is good size, fundamentals, and efficient play. French stands at around 5’9 and she is very good in open space whenever she is given time. She demonstrates that she has a really solid foundation when catching and letting the ball go from deep with the ability to put it on the floor if she is overplayed, leading to an easier bucket for herself or an open teammate near the rim. She has the type of stance that reminds me of someone that could turn into being an elite shooter over-time. The biggest issue most prospects come across who can shoot it from a young age is that they don’t have a wide enough stance to come off of screens with. If they were to run full speed, off of a down screen for a look, they would fall over or travel because they don’t catch wide-enough but that is not the case with French. Other than that, she has a smart head on her shoulders and she never seems to force action. From everything that I have seen over the past year, this is one of those prospects that you might not think is going to kill you but if you let up on her, she could have a career night at any given moment.

. French is a guard that can do several things on the floor but her best ability, hands down, is shooting the ball from deep. On offensive, she is a willing passer and a constant distributor but she is easily a Top 3 – form shooter out of this 2026 class. Doesn’t matter how close or how far, French’s shot always looks the same and always has a chance to go in. You can tell this just from her past AAU season, when her team ran several sets to get her open for a three point attempt. I want to see French’s game grow a little more over the next season or two but as for shooting the ball from deep, French is an absolute sniper that is going to score a bunch of buckets in high school because of it. Probably college too.
