Some players can win and lose teams' games depending on their decisions, plays they make on either end of the floor, or anything else they do on the floor that can swing a game in their team's favor. I want to talk about some kids who can alter a game with their defensive prowess or ability to make winning plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='849573' first='Addison' last='Lavicka']

The Athens wing got unlucky this past AAU season with an injury and may miss a significant portion of her senior season if not all of it. However, she's among the most intriguing small-school prospects in Wisconsin. Lavicka has the size and length at 5-11, moves well, can stretch the floor with her size, rebounds well, and is a competitive kid. She can help most small school programs in Wisconsin over her four years.

Kacy Eggerbrecht

The Phillips guard is another excellent defensive guard. She reads the game well in man or zone defenses and reads passing lanes at a high level. The more I've seen of her on film, the more I like her basketball IQ. She's an active defender who isn't frantic. Eggerbrecht waits for offensive players to bring the ball to areas where she can get a hand on it and then attacks. She's stepped into a significant role over the past few years and seems comfortable being the key figure in Phillips' offense and defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='444787' first='Maia' last='Ellis']

There may be flashier names in the 2024 class, but Ellis is among the most well-rounded kids in the state. She's a 5-11 wing who can guard one through four at the high school level and two through four at the college level at a scholarship level. Ellis is physical, intelligent, and plays level-headed. There are few kids left in the 2024 class that I like more than Ellis. Even on the offensive end, she can shoot, rebound, and cut as an off-ball guard or wing. There isn't much I can think of that she can't do.

[player_tooltip player_id='338944' first='Georgia' last='Acompanado']

There are a limited amount of kids who are comparable to Acompanado. I can't think of many other 5-7 guards who can make up for not having size around the basket. She's a triple-double threat every night with her passing and rebounding, and she still manages to play fast for 36 minutes and put pressure on recovering defenses in transition. At any point, if she becomes a kid who can shoot 34-36% on average volume from the 3-point line, we're talking about one of the most dynamic kids in the 2025 class out of Wisconsin.

Some players can win and lose teams' games depending on their decisions, plays they make on either end of the floor, or anything else they do on the floor that can swing a game in their team's favor. I want to talk about some kids who can alter a game with their defensive prowess or ability to make winning plays.
