There was an impressive mix of talent spread out through the years, and more incoming talent to expect this season. Here’s another look at some players to watch from this conference during the 2023-24 New Jersey high school girls basketball season.
Alaina LaMonica Alaina LaMonica PG Washington Township | 2025 State NJ – Washington Township (2025)
One of three players returning from last season’s team that factored into the starting lineup or main player rotation, LaMonica is the youngest of the three, the lone impact junior returning. We’ll assuredly see fellow junior Ella Karp step up into a bigger role, but looking at playmakers, LaMonica has a starting spot locked down and the guard will need to shine from three like she did last season.
Paige Horton – Kingsway (2025)
An underrated pick, Horton has a pathway to the starting lineup with three senior forwards having graduated in the spring. That leaves her and senior Erin Lail to head up the frontcourt for the Dragons, and Horton already showcased a lot of promise as a sophomore. Among the standouts for her includes nearly 0.7 blocks a game in 20 games played. Getting a starting spot is well-within the cards.
Kaidan Henry – Triton (2026)
It’s time we go off the beaten path a bit more, heading over to Triton for a sophomore guard in Kaidan Henry who will have a lot asked of her this season. Henry, a rotating starter as a freshman, will need to help recoup the lost production of three starting seniors from last year. She’ll almost assuredly be the starting point guard this season and she’ll have the spotlight on her as she runs the offense.
Sanaa Thomas Sanaa Thomas CG Glassboro | 2026 State NJ – Glassboro (2026)
Glassboro is stacked with young talent, and among them, a lockdown starter for the next three years is guard Sanaa Thomas Sanaa Thomas CG Glassboro | 2026 State NJ , coming off an impressive freshman year. 11.8 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 3.6 APG in 20 games is just the tip of the iceberg because she also had a comfortable 4.2 steals per game, seemingly effortless moves made as a defender. Our expectations are set high for her as someone who should be an all-conference selection.
Ava Rodgers Ava Rodgers 5'9" | PF Salem | 2026 State NJ – Salem (2026)
While nothing too flashy, Rodgers made an impact in her first high school season with Salem, much more effective in the second half of the year instead of the first half, where she was sparsely used. Over her last 11 games, she had three double-doubles, six double-digit scoring performances and four double-digit rebounding performances. Rodgers also came into her own much more defensively, building momentum into this season.
Rainelle Blocker Rainelle Blocker 5'9" | PF Clayton | 2025 State NJ – Clayton (2025)
If you’re talking potential Player of the Year candidates in the Tri-County Conference, Blocker has to be in the conversation, no doubt. The junior forward for Clayton is coming off an all-star, all-conference level performance as a sophomore, averaging 17.6 PPG and 8.4 RPG in 25 games, including 10 double-doubles to her name. Also, let’s not forget more than a block a game and nearly four steals a game, really stepping up her defensive prowess.
