Maddie Casey Maddie Casey SG IC - Liberty | 2025 State IA has put together a year to remember with the Lightning. Casey is a SG with deep range from three, an accurate handle, and a smart head on her shoulders. Not only can she be someone that competes at the SG position, she also could double as a PG if need be. Last night Casey registered the second most points for her team with 14. That number might not be crazy but this 14 came in an efficient way. Casey was accurate shooting the ball from deep when the defense put a hand down but at the same time, she didn’t force any of that action. Her shots were more in rhythm and that made the defense pay in the end. She also went to the charity stripe a few times, making all of her attempts from the line. You might not think it but MC is a big reason why this Lightning team wins consistenly. She has a calmness about her presence on the floor and that rubs off on the others around her.

We highlighted Maddie Casey Maddie Casey SG IC - Liberty | 2025 State IA at the beginning of the season with her commitment to Quincy University. Ever since, Casey has the nets on fire with her playmaking ability on the offensive end of the ball, while being a stout defender as well. What makes Casey deadly on offense is her shooting capabilities and her ability to play off of that shot with the dribble. This season she has consistently demonstrated that she can knock down long rang shots from all around the perimeter. When she is being overplayed on that shot, she does have the skill-set to dribble past her defender to look for a more favorable shot attempt. Defensively, she has fast feet, quick adaptability, and active hands that help lead her to tips/deflections on that end. The Playoffs are coming up quick. If Liberty can lock in mentally and limit their mistakes, they are going to be a tough out, no matter where they are placed when that time comes.

Maddie Casey Maddie Casey SG IC - Liberty | 2025 State IA made some clutch baskets as time was winding down in the second half of this one and that really helped this group hold their lead when things because intense towards the end. I’m not sure how Casey will fit into a college program at the next level yet. she can definitely play at that level but I’m sure her mind is locked in on the season at hand. Something we should all respect.

“Casey isn’t the tallest on the floor at the guard position but she makes up for it with quick movements, an accurate shooting ability, and the willingness to sacrifice her own scoring for those around her. She somewhat gets lost in the mix with all the guards on this AIA 11th EYCL team but this Winter, she should return to IC – Liberty High School and kill it as their leader with the ball in her hands.”
