A couple of my favorite plays from Vanessa on the day: facing up from the top of the key and bursting to the basket through defenders for an and one layup, bouncing the ball off of a defender to save a possession after being trapped at half court, standing up on the bench to cheer on teammates, and shooting the free throw after receiving a hard foul. Vanessa is just an outstanding basketball player who does her job and makes her team better; an unsigned 2024 prospect, Vanessa deserves offers to play next level ball.

A GLUE player is someone who a team cannot win without because they make the offensive, defensive, hustle, energy, and IQ plays needed for team succes: that’s exactly what Vanessa did Sunday. I briefly saw her play for Goonies this summer but this was the first time I had the opportunity to see her game in full. She was an outstanding all around performer and earned notice from coaches at the event as a finalist for the MVP voting.
