Over the next few days, we'll recap the high school offseason. We'll close the book on what happened over the summer, the commitments, offers that went out, and some other things to close out the travel ball season. Today, we'll look at the class of 2024.

Stock Risers

[player_tooltip player_id='266998' first='McKenna' last='Johnson']

Once Johnson moved from Midwest Elite to [program_tooltip program_id='715882' first='Wisconsin' last='Flight Elite'], I thought she'd explode offensively in the EYBL. She's been one of the best individual scorers in the state for the past few seasons, but since she's done it at Wilmot, people haven't highlighted it much. That changed this past summer. Johnson scored in bunches all summer and drew the attention of Power Five programs. The now senior decided on attending Minnesota after she graduates.

[player_tooltip player_id='209590' first='Claire' last='Meudt']

The past 12 months have been extraordinary for Meudt. She went from being a role player at Waunakee as a sophomore to their best player this past year as a junior, Conference Player of the Year, to indispensable with her [program_tooltip program_id='713043' first='Wisconsin' last='Impact'] team. I thought she did an excellent job providing value to her team outside of scoring. She played solid team basketball by moving away from the ball, staying engaged defensively, and moving the ball with a purpose.

[player_tooltip player_id='444785' first='Karsyn' last='Bauman']

Each of the past few years, there have been kids whom most coaching staffs in the WIAC wanted. Last year, it was kids like Olivia Peterson, and Bauman was that kind of prospect this summer. The Ripon wing is an athletic kid who plays with a high motor. She's incredibly active defensively on the ball, flies all over the place off the ball, and loves to get downhill. Her athleticism and passion for the game showed this summer, and it was neat to see her commit to UW-Eau Claire after her knee injury in her sophomore season.

[player_tooltip player_id='444780' first='Lucy' last='Leininger']

After seeing Leininger in a few of her first games playing varsity at Germantown compared to where she is now is remarkable. Her role early on was as a defensive disruptor, and it still is, but she's come so far skill-wise on the offensive end to the point where I expect to see her drive and get to the free throw line, make some reads on short rolls, and knock down an occasional jumper. She could be the piece that solidifies Germantown's identity this year, which would be something to behold. Leininger committed to playing at Minnesota State-Mankato this summer over other high-end D2 programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='207069' first='Ally' last='Timm']

I talked about Timm at nauseam this summer, and I'm doing it again. One of the two biggest surprises of the AAU season was how well Timm played. She'd always had the talent, but because of consistency, shot selection, and other factors, it never seemed to click for her until this past summer. The DSHA wing made shots at a ridiculous rate, especially in April, that stunned me. Everything she did was in the flow of the offense, and she went toe-to-toe with other Big East and Power Five kids and looked like she belonged on the floor with them. Some were shocked when she committed to DePaul in July, but that's how good she was this summer.

Over the next few days, we'll recap the high school offseason. We'll close the book on what happened over the summer, the commitments, offers that went out, and some other things to close out the travel ball season. Today, we'll look at the class of 2024.
