Spring Hill Lady Raiders Preseason Team Preview

“Bounce Back.” That's the phrase that I think about when thinking of the Spring Hill Lady Raiders. Last year, the squad played in the 3A division, finishing 8-20 overall with a 1-9 district record. But that was the old them. Now they are in a new division and have their eyes set on new goals and building something bigger, the girls come into the season with a different mindset. Change is on the horizon and Coach Rod Ramzy is fired up about this year's squad.   The Lady Raiders come into 4A play with something to prove. Yes, last year's results weren't favorable, but this year, the ladies are hungrier than ever. This summer they put in good work, got a better feel for the style of play, and bonded off the court. It's like they pressed the reset button and went from there. The girls challenged themselves, took on more ownership, and are excited to take on new opponents. I might add, there will be more rivalry games due to the close proximity of some. Look for this season to be a good one for the Lady Raiders of Spring Hill. They have something to prove and the young ladies are in place to do so.   Here are some Lady Raiders who will be suiting up for Spring Hill this season.   Maria Ramzy (5'4/So./PG)-  Young pup who is a gym rat. Smart heady player who is going to give it all she has. Efficient offensive conductor, she's going to pick her poise and exploit defenses. She can shoot it, make timely passes, and handle defensive pressure. On defense, she's applying pressure, creating havoc and being a pest. She's in your face with active hands and feet. She's a go-getter and with more court time, look for her to make a impact for her ball club.   [player_tooltip player_id='290940' first='Jeycelyn' last='Brashear'] (6'0/Sr./F)- Good size, good length, she's a hooper that plays the game hard. Can score it from all three levels, but displays her athleticism and speed to get by defenders. She's going to challenge you at the rim, but will unleash it from the mid-range or beyond. Anticipates well, getting steals and tips is what she does. She's the aggressor turning her defense into offense. Though this is her final year at Spring Hill, look for her to go out with a bang and leave her mark on this program. Solid prospect that can hoop.   Belle Brashear (6'0/Sr./G)- Double trouble. This twin goes hard just like her sis. Blessed also with good size and length, she's a ball player too that creates havoc. She can score it, but makes her money doing the little tangible things such as box/rebounding, making/creating space for open lanes or to get off shots, communicating. She too has athleticism and speed that enables her to get by defenders to finish at the rim or knock down shots from multiple places. Belle is a heady ball player who's going to go out and make this season one to remember. Look for her to compete from the jump ball until the final whistle.   [player_tooltip player_id='816776' first='Alayzia' last='Harrison'] (5'4/So./G)- Speed and quickness. When this girl plays, this attribute sticks out the most. She's always around the basketball and defense is her forte. She pokes and prods basketballs loose from opponents. She jumps passing lanes, wins 50/50 balls/ and does the extra effort stuff. Her defense leads to easy transition buckets. On the offensive end, she's an attacker, knocking down shots from the mid-range or getting paint touches. Young raider whose game will only grow.
