Most Intriguing Teams: 802 D3 Selection – Windsor H.S.

I'm going through D1-D4 and looking at the most interesting teams therein! They won't necessarily be the favorite to win the title, but in this case... I couldn't pass Windsor up! They're looking at the possibility of a 3-peat and they return their three best players from last year. Let's dive in to WHS!   D3 Selection: Windsor H.S.   If you don't know Windsor, they should be on your map. They're a perennial powerhouse in D3 and over the past few years have sent a player Division 1 to UMaine and Division 2 at St. Michaels University, and there's probably more over the past couple years that've gone on to play college ball that I'm missing. They may be small town Vermont, but these kids can play.   The Roster:   Windsor's Big 3 does not mess around. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='446539' first='Sydney' last='Perry'] is the most formidable presence around the interior in the state. She's an absolute force defensively with his size and length, providing lockdown post defense, impeccable rim protection, and an absurd amount of rebounding. And offensively, she's a polished post player who can finish with strength, a short-range jump shot, and footwork all around the paint. Plus, her FT percentage is solid; can't go with the Hack-a-Shaq.   On the perimeter they have two-way toughness and high-IQ guards running the show. [player_tooltip player_id='496193' first='Sophia' last='Rockwood'] is a heady, athletic guard who's slashing and shooting cuts up defenses, and her orchestration/distribution ensure teammates get the ball in advantageous positions, especially Perry. Defensively, Sophia is a hassle. She's a pesky on-ball defender and her off-ball anticipation creates a ruckus. Her running mate [player_tooltip player_id='496099' first='Audrey' last='Rupp'] brings the heat too. Rupp an even more ferocious defender and her sharpshooting off the catch, connective passing, and quick decision-making cause defenses to scramble often.   [player_tooltip player_id='645786' first='Brianna' last='Barton'] is a steady wing who glues the offense together by knocking down open shots and moves the ball quickly. Plus, her measured defense allows Sophia and Audrey to take some chances in the fullcourt pressure as she rotates into position to cover them. Another player I like down there is [player_tooltip player_id='630371' first='Kemari' last='Wildgoose']. Kemari is a hustle player who does so much that rarely shows up in the box score. She's a solid screen setter, cutter, loose ball collector, and a hardnosed defender with good senses in help situations and when rotating.   This is a stout first five that I anticipate will be a lineup they utilize often.   The Outlook:   They're certainly the favorites in D3 even as Thetford, the Finals Runner-Up, brings back their core 3 with point-forward [player_tooltip player_id='649623' first='Addison' last='Cadwell'] at the helm. Hazen has one of the top players in the state with [player_tooltip player_id='649629' first='Caitlyn' last='Davison'], but the group around her doesn't carry the same depth as WHS. Windsor takes on a couple D1 foes in Mount Anthony and Brattleboro, along with a couple solid D2 contests against a tough Fair Haven team and tough players [player_tooltip player_id='481355' first='Charlotte' last='Jasmin'] at Hartford + [player_tooltip player_id='496160' first='Macie' last='Stagner'] at Springfield. Their schedule has a nice mix of tough matchups and this group never seems to tire of competition. Windsor has multiple college prospects on the squad that battle, and I believe they'll make another huge run through February and into March.
