Class of 2021: Underrated Prospects

It is very easy to fall into the trap of providing coverage for the same top players year round. Prep Girls Hoops strives to provide coverage and updates for players of all levels. After viewing the updated 2021 rankings, I believe it makes sense to share some names of players that are underrated, under the radar or under appreciated on some levels, but they flat out get it done. <em>2021 Underrated Prospects:</em> 6'0 PF <strong>Lexi Hernandez</strong> (Lynden Christian HS) - Really solid post player with great footwork around the basket. Lexi has all the up fakes, step throughs and shoulder fakes that well-trained post players <em>should</em> have by their junior year.  The difference is most players never develop these parts of their game and she has it down, making her a strong presence in the paint. She is the younger sister of current SDSU player Isabela Hernandez. 6'0 PF <strong>Chenoa Louie</strong> (Royal City HS) - Easily one of the best junior forwards in the state. Chenoa attends a small high school, so she's not a household name statewide but she garnered Division 2 and low Division 1 interest this last summer. She is tough and physical all over the floor. Chenoa is also a solid shooter from 17 feet, enabling her to be more versatile than she may appear at first glance. 6'0 PF <strong>Jaimyn Sides</strong> (Mt. Spokane HS) - Jaimyn is one of the better kept secrets in Washington as well, playing behind two college players at Lewis and Clark High School last winter. She will now step into a starting role with Mt. Spokane (transferred) this winter. At around 6 feet tall, Jaimyn is a very good left-handed shooter. She traveled the west coast with the Spokane Sandpipers and performed well overall. 2021 5'4 G <strong>Malia Smith</strong> (Glacier Peak HS) - Malia is a true weapon on the perimeter due to her sound decision making and her ability to shoot the three ball. As I mentioned at the <span style="color: #ff0000;"><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/2019/06/gonzaga-team-camp-top-prospects-part-2/">Gonzaga Team Camp</a> <span style="color: #000000;">this summer, Malia is a scrappy defender and has proven to be able to stretch the defense out. </span></span> 5'11 SF<strong> Molly Moffitt</strong> (Seattle Prep HS) - Molly is a solid piece for the Seattle Prep Panthers and had some nice performances scoring, assisting and rebounding in many games. She is a strong body and will be able to help some college program at the right level. 5'7 PG<strong> Andie Zylak</strong> (Lewis and Clark HS) - Andie really improved this winter as the high school season went along. She is quick and shifty with the ball in her hands, while being a pest on the defensive end. She is easily one of the most underrated point guards in the state and should be on some small colleges radar over the next year. 5'6 SG <strong>Shaunice Reed</strong> (Franklin HS) - College coaches looking for a downhill scorer with some swagger, look no further than Shaunice Reed. Shaunice has put together some big scoring performances for the Quakers and been out on the circuit with Tree of Hope's 16u and 15u teams the last few years.
