About Kennedy
Expert Analysis
Brandon Fisher | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Kennedy impacted the game everywhere. In Lakeland’s 62–54 upset over Wekiva (6-over-3), she piled up 6 steals and a block, poured in 24 points on 53% shooting, and even led the team with 3 assists. That’s two-way control. Her quickness and relentless motor constantly sped Wekiva up, while her anticipation in passing lanes turned defense into easy offense. She wasn’t just creating chaos, but she was capitalizing on it efficiently.
Now comes a rematch against Bayside, a team that handed the Dreadnaughts a 53–43 loss in January after a sluggish start. If Lakeland is going to flip that result, Kennedy’s tone-setting pressure has to show up from the opening tip. Her ability to dictate tempo — instead of playing from behind — could be the swing factor in this rematch on the road in Palm Bay.

is an out-of-state transfer generating major hype as a must-see player. In Texas, she was known for her athletic playing style on both ends of the floor, displaying excellent body control to finish through contact at the rim, while also having the skill to shoot effectively off the catch. If defenders close out on her too aggressively, she has an explosive first step to punish them. Even from highlight film, Borders is a player you need to see in person this season.

Borders is an athletic guard who utilizes her athleticism on both ends, and her defensive pressure was solid from the start. However, watching her attack the basket and finish strongly after contact, body control played a significant role in that. She also dropped the jumper from outside, “catch and shoot” included

Borders was another player that grabbed my attention over the holidays and her Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational performance had me smiling. I had a brief conversation with her day and her last name kept ringing a bell so I used the “search bar” and voila. I spoke about a couple of things that stood out when she was in the 6th grade, one being long and athletic as well as her upside and “voila”, she is showing signs of exploding. Her first step is solid, nice body control on her finishes and watching create her shot under pressure and drop it, from mid to long-range is going to cause some problems for defenders
