Anna Bartles Anna Bartles 5’10” | CG Midland | 2024 State IA is an athlete that should have been mentioned before this Update but better late than never. Bartles is a college committed Combo Guard, that displays a versatile game on the hardwood. She moves around the floor, from position to position, always attempting to make a play for her team. This past season she really brought her skill together and made a difference. She demonstrated that she can play the top of her team’s zone, showing off her athletic ability or she can stay down low in the post and protect the paint. Offensively, she is does a little bit of everything. She can bring the ball up during a fast break in transition off of a rebound or she can slow things down and play the middle of her team’s motion inside the lane. Following this season, Bartles will try to compete at the next level. If she can continue to grow her game, while staying dedicated to the sport, she is going to make strides individually moving forward.
Whenever you bring up Columbus Catholic, you hear about the O’Brien sisters and their potential but another prospect that put together a rememberable high school career is Morgan Bradly. Bradly has size, speed, and knowledge of the game that is better than most. On any given night, Bradly is the type of prospect who can give you 10 Points, 7 Rebounds, and 3 Assists. She is someone that is going to make her presence known throughout a contest, even if she isn’t scoring the rock. This past few months I’ve been really interested in Bradly’s play-style. She brings a lot of positivity on the floor and it’s very noticeable. I’m not sure what her future holds but when she looks back, she should keep her head held high because she put together a better high school career than most throughout the state of Iowa in this 2024 Class.
Stanton High School has recently had some players on roster that really left it all on the court throughout their basketball careers, one of the most impressive being Lead Sandin. Sandin is an athlete. A player that got things done on both sides of the floor, every time she laced up her shoes. She helped lead this team in several positive statistical categories and she made it seem easy while doing it. Following this school year, Sandin will be attending Iowa State as a student and she is going to kill it. This is the type of person that is going to succeed in anything that she puts her mind too. That’s been on full display the past few high school seasons and should be a theme moving forward in her life.
Aliya Wagamon Aliya Wagamon 5’10” | SF EBF | 2024 IA is someone to know. I’m not sure if she has any interest to compete at the next level but if she does, I’m sure she could find a home. Wagamon is 5’10 but she plays like she is 6’2. Inside the paint, she is a handful to deal with as she understands footwork, spacing, and angles. When I first sat down to watch Wagamon compete this season, she impressed me. She demonstrated that she is a relentless rebounder and a high motor. I’ve had the privilege to evaluate a lot of athletes over my career and Wagamon is a player with some of the highest energy I’ve seen. From her numbers, you would never think that she is a player competing under 6’0. Like I said, I’m not sure if playing at the next level is even on her radar but I know a coach or three out there who would love to have a player with the heart and dedication like Wagamon possesses.
There are not too many athletes during the high school season these past few months, who has recorded a triple-double in any aspect. When that happens, it’s noteworthy. A prospect that has done that a few times this Winter is Morgan Christian Morgan Christian 5’9″ | CG Sioux Central | 2024 IA of Sioux Center. Christian is a 5’9 Guard, that can flat out take over a game if given the opportunity. In her best game of the Varsity season, she recorded a game where she had 15 Points, 12 Rebounds, 11 Assists, and 8 Rebounds. This is up for debate for stat-line of the season throughout the State of Iowa from everything that I have seen. I don’t know where Christian is going to end up for her collegiate career but she is another player that SHOULD be competing at the next level. She is smooth with it, coordinated, and knows the game. All of that is usually a recipe for success.
