For much of the game, Walden’s performance was nothing to write home about. In fact, she only scored 6 points. But those six points came in the clutch, and her two three pointers proved to be difference makers. With the second making it an one point game in the final minute. Then her battler mentality stepped in. She deflected a pass causing a loose ball that would bounce off an opponent. Seconds later, her teammate Karson Jenkins would score the go ahead bucket. Walden would finish off the game with a block/steal combination as the horn sounded. Sealing the one point win and a trip to the semifinals tomorrow.

After back to back Class A appearances for the Enid based private school, the Trojans have been bumped up to Class 2A. So far, it’s been little problem for the skilled lead guard and her teammates. They’re 20-0 and Walden is a big reason why. She impressed in January in two wins against top 20 ranked Class 2A foe Cashion. Along with setting the table, she’s an impressive scorer. Especially in the mid-range and at the rim. Controlled and plays at her own pace. Either snaking all the way to the rim, where her long arms aid her finshing ability. Or hitting tough shots in the mid-range. Is signed with Bethany (KS, NAIA)

At first glance, Walden could be classified sneaky athletic. Because out seemingly nowhere she’ll show good lift when exploding to finish or snagging a contested rebound. But after a full game of watching the northwestern Oklahoma standout, there’s nothing sneaky about her game. Okay, maybe some of her moves to avoid defenders trying to take charges or stop her are sneaky, but that’s a good thing. Especially a take where she drove right, got to the left side of the rim and scooped a late go ahead score. Walden’s ability to pressure the paint made her a consistent scorer, and also would force the defense to scramble and reset when she kicked it out to shooters.
