Loomis, highlighted earlier this season as a sophomore standout, continued her breakout year with a 30-point game on Saturday. Against Brighton, she led Niwot to a 46-43 win with her leadership and scoring. Loomis shot 10 of 15 from the field, including 6 of 9 from three. She was perfect from the free-throw line. Niwot needed every one of those points for the victory as they improved to 7-3 this season.

Alaina Loomis Alaina Loomis 5'9" | SG Niwot | 2028 CO is the driving force for the 6-1 Niwot Cougars. The 5’9 guard earns multiple trips to the foul stripe each contest and leads her team in FT percentage (65%). Loomis has exceptional court awareness and approaches every game with an enthusiastic energy that radiates to her teammates as well. Beginning the first half of her sophomore season, averaging just short of 14 PPG, she looks to elevate Niwot to new heights this year.

Loomis has been a key catalyst in Niwot’s impressive start, showcasing her all-around game. She attacks the basket fearlessly, finishing through contact with either hand. She has a knack for drawing fouls with her aggressive drives. In the press break, Loomis leads her teammates with timely passes that keep the offense flowing.

Alaina attacked the rim hard, looking to score or dish when the defense collapsed. She also played a big role on defense, impacting the game on both ends.

Although just a freshman, Alaina is one of the more athletic players in the northern area, and that will show this season at Niwot High School. When watching her play, at times, it seems like the ball is just trying to keep up with Alaina’s body. As Loomis continues to turn up her skill level, which she has year after year, the control and smoothness of her game will be a beautiful thing to see. Don’t be surprised to see Alaina up near (if not at the top) of the Niwot varsity team leaders in all major statistical categories.

Alaina showed out at the showcase on both ends of the floor. She is a powerful slasher who attacks the rim with authority, often earning free points at the charity stripe. Alaina is a supreme athlete for her size. She moves like a guard but has the body of a forward, which is a lethal combination. She has the ability to guard at least four positions on the floor, and this makes her even more valuable to her team. Niwot has been waiting for a player of this caliber to enter the program, and she has the talent and IQ to begin making an impact as a freshman.
