Mack has had an outstanding start to the travel ball season with Essence. She has had some huge individual performances during that time and had several more during the regular season with Woodward Academy. Williams has an uncanny ability to put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways and can wreak havoc on a game defensively.
It was no surprise to see Mac transition her excellent play from an outstanding Junior season flawlessly into travel ball with Essence 17u Purple EYBL. Williams put up video game numbers in several games this season for Woodward in emphatic style. She is an elite scorer from all three levels and that was on full display as Essence took down All Iowa Attack. She scored from behind the three point line several times, both off the catch and dribble. She also caught and converted several quick, short passes in the paint on the break and finished smoothly from 3-5 feet. Williams is an excellent ball handler who will flash her skill and a little swagger with it from time to time. She rebounds the ball very well for a guard and she has the quickness to be an elite defender. Williams is a player who could blow up this Summer and come back with more respect on her name and her game. Something I think she definitely deserves.
Williams put together one of the more complete performances and impressive stat lines of the night finishing with 24 points, seven rebounds, and eight steals for Woodward in the win over Evans. Like Cooper, Zee turned those steals into easy points for herself and her team converting defense into offense and scoring on the break. In the half court Williams was effective getting to her spots in the midrange and knocking down shots as well as attacking the rim with dribble penetration. She, along with Cooper, give Woodward a very formidable 1-2 punch that could keep their team alive in round three against a very good Coffee team.
Williams is a special talent that just gets better every time she touches the court. Her smooth handles and quick release allow her the chance to score at all 3 levels. A player who wants the ball in her hands down the stretch and when her team needs a quick score.
