On August 17th I attended the National Hidden 20 Exposure Showcase presented by Area Codes Basketball and Big City Hoops. This event had over 100 participants and was scouted by various media outlets.

Here I look at some of the under-the-radar players from this event:

[player_tooltip player_id='754700' first='Kamari' last='Roddy'] McClintock

Roddy flashed the skill set that she's been waiting to put on display this upcoming season. She has size, good hands, and is active around the basket. She showed the ability to step out and hit the perimeter shot which was a plus. She and her Chargers teammates look to make a big splash this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='835712' first='Bri' last='Potter'] Dream City Christian

Potter is a nice ball handler who showed the ability to get her shot off well in traffic. Bri played with good pace and confidence with the ball in her hands. She kept her head up always looking to make the extra pass. She will make an impact on her DCC squad.

[player_tooltip player_id='830790' first='Mariana' last='Vega'] Cibola

Vega played with a nose for the ball and always seemed to be around the action. She rebounded very well and took high percentage shots which is hard to do in a showcase setting. She is probably the top player in Yuma.

[player_tooltip player_id='971361' first='Alexa' last='Contreras'] Dream City Christian

Contreras has a lot to like in her game and it showed. She rebounded well and was physical around the basket. What I was surprised most about was her touch from the perimeter. She shot the three ball with confidence and had very nice form on her shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='640352' first='Makenna' last='Johnson'] Liberty

Johnson is the epitome of an under-the-radar prospect. She just comes out to compete and does whatever it takes to win. She displayed her versatility showing her ability to defend all over the court and score in different ways. She might not have led her team in scoring, but her impact was felt.

[player_tooltip player_id='660230' first='Michelle' last='Kogbara'] Peoria

Kogbara threw her muscle around during the event and there wasn't much that defenders could do with her. She knows where she wanted to operate and she got to those spots. She rebounded very well and got to the free-throw line quite a bit. She should be a double-double machine this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='971362' first='Jeniah' last='Green'] Kellis

Jeniah played like she was on a mission during the event. She was very vocal and made her presence felt every time she was on the court. She made things easier for her teammates with her rebounding and defense. There are not many tougher players in the AIA than Green.
