One thing that I love about the Elite 80 is the way that they give back to the student-athletes! $2,000 in scholarship awards were given out and I know the athletes appreciated it! One scholarship that was given out on 9/14/24 was in honor of [player_tooltip player_id='822427' first='Hayden' last='Carter']. When I was told that Hayden was the first athlete to sign up for the Elite 80, I was not surprised one bit. I mentioned Hayden in an article on 5/11/24 that said, "Carter is fast with the ball in her hands. The [program_tooltip program_id='712985' first='TN' last='Flight Trotters'] were down for a large portion of the game against the [program_tooltip program_id='713862' first='TN' last='Lady Grit']. Hayden finds her way down the court, pulls up, and drills a big time three to put her team within 1 with under 1 minute and 30 seconds left. Hayden is a tough athlete and she continues to show that she is not afraid of the big time moments! She's a solid ball handler and her overall game is improving every time she steps on the court!" Hayden's impact is still felt. It was definitely felt at the Elite 80!

Congratulations to [player_tooltip player_id='409038' first='Kelsey' last='Holt'] on receiving the [player_tooltip player_id='822427' first='Hayden' last='Carter'] Elite 80 Scholarship Award! When Kelsey wrote, "So thank you basketball, for everything you have done for me. Thank you for making me into the person I am today and making me stronger as a whole. I am playing for you nana and it's even written on my basketball shoes so everyone can know that! …. I am gonna get that scholarship to play basketball in college for you nana." Johnson University is getting a heck of an athlete, but an even better human! The words were touching when I read them on X last year. Holt will receive many scholarships, but I think this [player_tooltip player_id='822427' first='Hayden' last='Carter'] Elite 80 one may be at the top!
