Came out early in the second half and tried to help bring their team back after a big deficit. Love her effort and the fact that she just works hard to get what she could get, which tells me a lot about what kind of a player she is.
Rounding out Team 1 is Jones, a player who competes with relentless effort and exemplifies true teamwork on the floor. At 5’10”, she excels at running the floor and finding scoring opportunities, showing impressive court awareness. Defensively, she covers a lot of ground and stays active in disrupting opponents. As she continues to develop, Jones has the potential to become a significant contributor for the Monrovia girls basketball program.
Addison excelled the most during the 3 v. 3 drills, putting up numbers with left-handed lay-ups. However, Addison’s most notable contribution to the three-man team was her ability to set the other two girls up for scoring more as she handled more of the defensive work. Addison successfully swatted a shot that was taken in the paint, a feat that you don’t see very often. Additionally, Addison grabbed multiple rebounds, which she then put back into formation with the help of her teammates. Addison proved to be a great behind-the-scenes player by handling crucial components of the game that aren’t just scoring.
She’s your traditional back to the basket, post player with good footwork in the paint and is able to score the ball at the rim. Defensively she can protect the baseline. Runs the floor well in transition. She was a younger player playing up, only going to be a freshman.
Good size and a strong frame, that always boxed out and put a body on someone when a shot went up. She came down with a lot of rebounds and had multiple put backs in the game. Addi did a good job drawing contact inside and made several trips to the free throw line. Showed she can score off the dribble and has touch from the mid-range as well.
