Addison is riding high, coming off of a Class 2A State Title. We’ve had her and her sister, Avery, in our database for some time, and maybe I was admittedly a little late to the party, but I felt like her play to end the season warranted her addition to the Top 150. She is a nice all-around athlete, she has some length, good balance & strength, and she is also well-rounded skillfully. She can handle it and act as a traditional point guard, she can attack the basket North/South and find open teammates or finish through contact, but she also possesses some touch around the perimeter.

To begin with, Addison was the Class 2A Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award winner, due to her impressive academics, leadership qualities, and athletic contributions. In this game, she handled the ball quite a bit for Eastern, she was a willing distributor, but she also scored it and defended in the 50-32 victory. Addison is a really nice all-around athlete, she plays with poise and patience, and she did a great job of handling pressure. She finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Congratulations on the award, Addison!!

Addison is going to be critical to Eastern’s success for a few reasons. First, she will need to be her typical self offensively. She leads them in scoring, she can shoot/score it from all three levels, plus she can get into the paint and finish. She’s a nice all-around athlete, and she can even handle and facilitate for the Musketeers. Second, and more importantly, defensively, she’ll need to pressure and bother the Oak Hill guards, making it difficult for them to feed their strong interior players. If Eastern and Smith can limit Oak Hill’s post touches, I think it benefits them greatly.

The Smith twins are fierce sister competitors. The seniors at Eastern transferred as sophomores from Providence to Eastern. Let’s start with PG/SG Addie Smith. Addie is something to watch. She has a strong drive to the rim, moves side to side with ease and weaves in and out of traffic well. She’s averaging 13 PPG and 4 assists. She can run the 1 or 2 position. Her basketball IQ helps her read the defense prompting her to know when to drive and dish or to pull up for her own mid-range jumper. Addie is hard to stop once she’s got the bucket in her sights as her strength is on full display. She finishes with power and accuracy. Think that’s all? No way, she consistently drains the 3 ball. She tied Eastern’s record for 3 pointers made in a single game with 7 makes earlier this season.

Addison and her twin sister Avery (below) were key components to Our Lady of Providence the last two seasons, and they will be missed. However, they now bring their abilities to Eastern, where a traditionally strong program can certainly use the newcomers. Addison is an athletic guard, more of a scorer than anything, but she does have solid ball skill and can play a little point when necessary. She plays with a nice motor, can score it from multiple areas of the floor, plus she is an effortful and capable defender.
