I don’t know how else to describe Akaoma other than calling her a people-mover. She is extremely powerful, physical, and loves to initiate contact. At her height, she has tremendously long arms, so she can outplay girls with height advantages on her. She will still need to prove she can score it consistently, but she has at least improved her free throw shooting and her instincts with her back to the basket. Because of her physicality, I feel like she can step into a program and play right away.

Akaoma has really taken an appreciation to being a great rebounder and defender first. Through 17 games, she’s averaging just 8.8 points, however she is also averaging an impressive 13.7 rebounds per game, with an outstanding 6.4 of them coming at the offensive end each night. Her ability to keep possessions alive for the Lady Mustangs has been huge every game. She is powerfully built, quietly tough, and she plays with a great motor. She is a little rough-and-tumble offensively, but she does have good hands, and with the right college coach getting ahold of her, she could be a real problem.

Akaoma sort of came out of nowhere a season ago, giving the Lady Mustangs a huge boost to their frontline. She averaged 9.8 points and an impressive 12.4 rebounds per game. Despite being just 5-11, she is incredibly powerful, sometimes immovable, and she can be a real problem in the paint. Offensively, she has good hands and is working to develop more post skill. But she can sit down, seal, and give her guards a nice target. Defensively, she roots out opposing posts, keeping them from getting into their comfort zones.
