About Lainey
Expert Analysis
Danyle Bowers | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Lainey, competing with Team Lynx at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase, stood out as a tough, energetic guard who made a strong impact on the defensive end. She applied constant pressure to opposing ball handlers, coming up with steals and getting her hands on passes to disrupt the flow of the offense. Despite her guard position, she battled on the boards and was rewarded with a couple of second-chance finishes around the rim. Offensively, she also showed good vision, delivering a well-timed pass out of a pick-and-roll that led directly to a scoring opportunity. Her effort, activity level, and playmaking made her a valuable presence on both ends of the floor.

Lainey had a very productive season for Salem, averaging 11.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, two steals, and two assists per game. When you watch Lainey play, her effort, competitive drive, and all-around impact leave a lasting impression. She takes charges, gets into position for offensive rebounds, scores through contact, and creates transition points. Lainey is a prospect that I expect to thrive in this environment. I’m excited to see her compete on Sunday at the Headliners Invitational Showcase.

You learn the most about yourself during adversity. Against an elite team, Lainey showed her competitive fire and refused to back down. She drove with determination to the basket, finishing a strong and-one layup. Lainey muscled her way into position for offensive rebounds and finished contested put-backs effectively with both hands off two feet. She stepped into a three-pointer on the wing and buried it with a confident follow-through. Lainey communicated constantly on defense, causing a missed shot with a hard closeout, and made smart backdoor cuts. She turned in a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Salem at the LBI Holiday Classic.

Lainey turned in a determined performance for Salem at Northwood Team Camp. She drove with a burst by her defender to score a left-handed layup and attacked off the dribble again to cause a foul. Lainey made a pair of high IQ plays when she went backdoor to score a layup and saved a possession by bouncing a loose ball off a defender’s leg out of bounds. Lainey anticipated passes on defense to snag steals and clamped down with both hands to cause jump balls. She buried a three from the top of the key and was very impactful for the Rocks.
