This multi-sport star who also plays softball and volley ball has been lighting up the stat sheet of late as she has averaged 26 points to start the season – nearly triple her average from a year ago. Already known as a stand out defender, it is more than a welcome sign for Coach Parker to have Alaina get off to a hot start on the offensive end. She has excelled as a player who can defend the length of the floor and will get into the body of her defenders using her hands to swat the ball away. On offense, she will run the floor hard and get to the rim, getting her shots off quick before the defender can contest.

Alaina Griffin really sets herself apart from others with her on ball defense. She is quick laterally keeping her opponent in front of her at all times, and she picks the perfect times to jump in front of passes or knock the ball away to grab the steal. She is one of those players you could set up for a solo full court press, and she will find a way to disrupt the opponents’ offense. She was able to push the tempo on offense finding open teammates up the court when she would grab rebounds or steals, and she can certainly attack the rim herself for some points.
