Alayna showed an impressive ability to attack the basket and create scoring opportunities while competing with Team Liberty during the middle school session at the Headliners Invitational. She was particularly effective getting downhill, making multiple strong slashes to the hoop and converting some nice finishes around the rim. I liked how well she ran the floor, consistently getting up the court and putting herself in position to make plays in transition. On one possession, Alayna secured a defensive rebound and took the basketball coast to coast, showing her ability to push the pace and create her own scoring opportunity. She also demonstrated good defensive anticipation, jumping a passing lane for a steal before taking it the length of the floor. What really caught my attention on that play was her ball handling, as she showed excellent push-outs with her crossover dribble to get past defenders while maintaining her speed. Her combination of quickness, transition play and ability to finish at the basket made her an exciting player to watch throughout the event.
