About Alayna

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a high-level two-way guard who changes the game with defensive pressure, tempo control, and playmaking ability. I thrive in competitive situations, embrace guarding top matchups, and create offense through effort, reads, and transition play. My focus is always winning, not just scoring.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Iam a resilient, high-competitive athlete with a strong work ethic and a growth mindset. I stay composed in tough situations, respond to adversity by elevating my effort, and I am highly coachable. I take pride in being consistent, disciplined, and a positive presence for my team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Iam a multi-sport athlete (basketball, flag football, volleyball, soccer) whose development has come through competition, training, and team leadership. While I have not pursued traditional clubs or non-sport awards, I have built strong discipline, communication skills, and a winning mindset through year-round athletic competition.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed strong leadership, accountability, and resilience through competitive sports. I understand how to communicate on the court, lead by example through effort, and work within a team system. My experience in multiple sports has also strengthened my adaptability, discipline, and ability to stay composed under pressure.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to handle losses and adversity in competition. Early on, I would take losses personally, but over time I’ve learned how to reset quickly, stay mentally strong, and use those moments as motivation to improve. Now I focus on growth, consistency, and staying locked in regardless of outcomes.

What type of college are you looking for?

Iam looking for a Division I program where I can compete, develop, and make an immediate impact as a defensive-minded, playmaking guard. I want to be part of a winning culture that emphasizes discipline, accountability, and high-level competition while pushing me to reach my full potential on and off the court.

Trevino is a “long and athletic” guard who has a mixture of ways to set the defender up to score. Yeah, she creates her shot under pressure and drops it while being defended, but she also attacks from multiple angles to score. Her “stop and pop” jumper in transition was nice; she also has good timing to block shots.
