Gehring is the type of shooter that can change a game. As a confident shooter she can get buckets from any where on the court, at any time in the game. From the jump ball, Alex comes out on fire. She can hit shots off the dribble, or off the pass within the offense very easily. Her range makes her hard to guard for any defense. But not just her range makes her dangerous because not only can she hit from 3pt, she can do it under pressure. She can do it off balance. She can do it from a play, or from her own creation. Watch for Alex to change games with her shooting all summer long.

Alex took another step forward in her development, particularly as a shooter. She was great at pushing the pace and finding open looks in transition before the defense could set up. Off the ball, she worked to get open and showed her ability to knock down shots when given space.

Alex has had a great season so far, taking over primary ball-handling duties for Denver South and thriving. In a tough matchup against Northfield, she found her rhythm offensively, finishing the game with 19 points. Although her team couldn’t secure the win, this game was a confidence booster for the sophomore guard. Her ability to step up and take control will be big for South over the next few years.

Alex hasn’t met a jumper, from any where on the court that she doesn’t like. Her accurate shooting makes this sophomore is a key part of Denver South’s offensive attack. Gehring has great handles, so her threat is not just in shots. She can go right around defenders and finish strong in the paint or find open teammates with her excellent vision and passing skills. She is solid on defense as well. You can find her at the top of defenses or presses, getting steals and generally creating chaos for dribblers and shooters. She is also great in help side, taking charges and doing her part to contain bigger defenders. Alex is a leader off the court as well with her voice and decision making that is an extension of the coach. Behind this sophomore, the South Ravens, will make a strong run in the second part of the season.
