Alexa is a top 10 talent who has been held back by injury which hasn’t allowed her to put her full game on display. Her height at the guard spot gives her a advantage while her high basketball IQ allows her to make the right reads. She is also a knockdown three-point shooter who makes the right play as the ball moves down the floor.

Alexa Tien showed good ball handling in transition and the ability to score from all three levels of the floor. She also played extremely well off the ball, making her a threat whether she was creating or playing alongside another ball handler.

Tien’s long-range shots have a natural, effortless touch. Throughout the showcase, she displayed excellent footwork to get balanced for her jumpers, including sinking a smooth stepback mid-range shot. Tien moves well without the ball, relocating to open spots and draining threes. Her shiftiness helped her weave to the basket for layups and draw fouls to get to the line.

Tien commands the floor as a poised point guard with great court vision. In transition, she does an excellent job of scanning the court and delivers accurate passes to her teammates. A true scoring threat, Tien can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor. Her three-point accuracy stands out, hitting 39% at Jr. EYBL last summer and an impressive 47% in the Fall League against high school competition. Her basketball IQ shines as she dissects defenses and sets up easy looks for others. Off ball, Tien moves with purpose, slipping into open spaces or timing her cuts perfectly for layups. Defensively, she doesn’t gamble, stays disciplined, and does a good job of keeping her opponents in front. Tien is set for an exciting high school season.

She may look a little smaller on the court, but this guard for Mountain West Premier can get it done in a big way. Tien understands the assignment as an undersized guard. Her handles are very good, she handles full court pressure with no problem. Alexa passes well, making sure to get the ball to her teammates where they can score. And when needed, she can get her own points. She isn’t afraid to get to the paint for aggressive buckets and she can hit jumpers from both 2pt and 3pt range. Defensively, Alexa hassles everyone on the court. She is very quick, getting steals from dribblers and causing problems for wing players Tien should be on your watchlist this summer.
