Gillespie showed no fear going to the basket and taking contact from post players throughout the game. She used shot fakes and quick moves with her dribble to bypass defenders. Multiple trips on offense for Lanier ended with her on the ground and headed to the free throw line where she shot the ball well. Gillespie plays with a lot of toughness and grit. She moved very well without the ball and when she got it was looking to attack early and often. Smith showed good vision making good feeds to the post and skip passes to open shooters.

With multiple starters missing, Aliyah kept Lanier in the title hunt with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in a 38-35 win against Dawson County. Gillespie splashed three second half threes to keep the Longhorns in front. She used her wiggle to get downhill for floaters whenever she was ran off the line.

Aliyah is a gifted athlete with her speed and shiftiness. She is at her best in the full court, able to pick off passes and beat defenders coast-to-coast. Her outside shot is steady enough to stretch the floor.

Shifty quick playmaker. Has speed with the ball. Uses her crossover to breakdown defenders. Drive and kick penetrator can also drop in floaters. Willing three-point shooter off the dribble.
