I’ve seen Allie a handful of times over the past year, and one thing that immediately stands out is her activity and the energy she plays with. Even before you get to her offensive skill set, the aggression and focus take center stage for what she could bring to a program. Her scoring will be needed this year, and she has the skill to do that from every area on the court. Attacking the rim seems to be where most of her comfort lies, and she has no problem finishing when traffic is there.

Allie competes with a high motor, and her determined downhill drives caught my attention on Saturday at the Great Lakes Kickoff with Full Package 3SSB 15U. She took the ball hard to the rim, scoring a strong and-one layup through contact, then finished the old-fashioned three point play from the charity stripe. Allie set her defender up with a jab step, then made the right read, refusing a ball-screen, then scoring a drive-by bucket off two feet. She finishes with a soft touch off the glass. Allie works to secure rebounds and is an efficient free-throw maker.

You have to respect a player who doesn’t quit when things don’t start perfectly. Brown plays with a short memory, which is a big boost to her confidence. She may not be the craftiest, but she understands how to attack angles and get to her spots. She shows solid touch around the rim and has the ability to stretch the floor when the possession calls for it.
