About Amelia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Downhill PG with the ability to score from all three levels. Smart defender that will guard every position on the floor. Good defensive anticipation and good passing ability to the post.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a winning mentality. I try to get better every game and make my teammates around me better as well. I could be a little shy in some settings but I come alive on the basketball court.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Playing basketball has taught me more about leadership and teamwork. My father is a retired Marine and I have always looked to him for those qualities. On the court, I can apply what he has already taught me plus what I have picked up over the years of playing.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I faced confidence challenges. There was a point I didn’t think I was good enough. I had to learn that with all of the work I put in the off season and the results I see from it that I am good enough. I now know that I am meant to play this game.

What type of college are you looking for?

Any college coach and team that is looking for a great teammate and even greater person. A college who will help me grow on the court but more importantly one that helps teach me to be a successful and productive member of society.

She also saw the floor well and can drop off passes when help rotates. When she’s aggressive like that, she’s hard to slow down.

Borallo is an athletic floor general who shined in Yuma Catholic’s win over Odyssey. She showed great burst in the open court and consistently put pressure on the defense. Her speed and ability to attack off the dribble make her a problem in transition and in half-court sets.

Amelia was one of the faster players from end to end with the ball in her hands. When she received the ball, she immediately put pressure on the defense, and it usually resulted in a productive play. She displayed excellent passing skills as well.

Borrallo is a smart, composed combo guard who plays with poise and purpose. She’s confident with the ball in her hands, able to handle pressure and get her team into their offense without rushing. What really stands out is her feel for the game—she sees the floor well and makes smart, timely passes to set up her teammates. Defensively, she brings a gritty edge, always locked in and willing to do the dirty work. I expect her to be one of the reasons Yuma Catholic sneaks up on teams in 3A. Her best years of her game are ahead of her I suggest college coaches invest early in her stock!
