The talent is there, and the potential can’t be overlooked either. O’Neal has all the intangibles to be a standout wing/guard, and although she’s still in the process of sharpening her ball handling and rim attacks, the confidence is there. She doesn’t shy away from finding angles, getting downhill, or finishing through contact. In the two games I watched of her today, the biggest thing that stood out was her IQ. She is a smart player who can see things unfold before they actually do, and that type of feel is hard to teach. As her overall skill set continues to evolve, she will definitely turn more heads.

The length and her ability to actually use it are things O’Neal can hang her hat on. On the defensive side, her frame helps her a ton on the perimeter and allows her to make up ground even when the foot speed is still catching up. Around the paint, she can contest, alter, and block shots just by being in the area, and that presence alone can change possessions. Offensively, she looks comfortable as a cutter, knows how to find space, and shows some confidence stepping out beyond the arc as well. The potential is there, and as the skill set keeps catching up to the tools, she can become an interesting long term prospect.

Amiya played with relentless energy every time I watched her. Her combination of length and skill makes her a very difficult matchup. On the perimeter, she does a really nice job of using her jab step to create a window and then attacking with a quick first step, all without wasting dribbles. She plays an efficient brand of basketball and gets to her spots without unnecessary fluff to her game. She can knock down shots from the outside and made more than a few threes over the weekend. She also showed the ability to play with her back to the basket and displayed soft touch around the rim. Defensively, her upside is enormous. With her length, lateral quickness, second jump ability, and timing as a shot blocker, she has the tools to become one of the best defenders in her class. She is very clearly a scholarship-level player.
