Curto was key in getting SHG the championship win this year. In the final matchup, Ava’s experience came into play early on. She never seemed like the moment was too big for her and that poise was infectious to other teammates. Curto exerted herself in ways that characterizes exactly what a champion is. She was so deserving of hoisting the trophy.

Ava does an excellent job beating her primary defender and getting into the paint, forcing defenses to collapse. Once there, she plays with great patience, using floaters over taller defenders instead of forcing tough shots. She’s also a strong three-point shooter, able to catch on the move, set her feet in stride, and knock down shots. Around the basket, Ava finishes efficiently for a guard, catching and converting quick layups in traffic.
