One who says Prior is good at basketball is no liar. Waccamaw had a rough night at the office against the defending 3A Lower State champions – many a team can say that. Prior still put forth a valiant effort for her Warriors with 15 points. Prior is the second of the two team co-captains on Waccamaw’s roster. Her ability to make plays by finding attacking lanes to the basket is one way she leads by example. Prior has played at the varsity level since she was a seventh grader and can get her team in the win column with her rebounding as much as she can as a scorer. Collecting a large amount of steals is another positive element to her game – as is connecting on attempts from the midrange.

Prior and her Warriors may not have achieved the result it was hoping for against Aynor but she still led all point-getters for Friday evening’s matchup with 15. She also steered clear of the referee’s whistle for the most part as she had only one personal foul called against her for the game. Prior is one of two team co-captains on this year’s Waccamaw team. She can thrive in a team’s lineup as either a point guard or a shooting guard and understands how to organize an offense in a halfcourt set. Prior also displays her toughness and veteran instincts with her ability to draw contact and get to the free throw line.

Prior is a bit off the radar down on the coast at Waccamaw HS for the Lady Warriors. She played a bit over in Europe this summer and didn’t play much Grassroots ball this past season.
Ayami is very good athlete and averaged 11.4 ppg, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 steals last season for the Lady Warriors (13-11). She constantly plays around the ball looking to manufacture points on both ends of the court. Ayami likes to play the game in attack mode to the rack.
Prior made the jump from 64 to 54 in the latest rankings update.

During the last few seasons prior to Prior bursting onto the season at 3A Waccamaw, the Warriors were not exactly on the radars of too many fans throughout the Palmetto State. That has changed as Waccamaw’s last three seasons have seen double-digit win totals. Among Prior’s vast skillset includes the ability to handle the ball, organizing an offense in a halfcourt set and the ability to put points on the board at a consistent rate. This offseason will be a huge one for Prior as she is slated to take part in the United World Games which are being co-hosted by Germany and Austria this June.
