Cannon’s first two seasons sporting the purple of 3A Walhalla have both resulted in state championships. She would play in 26 of the Razorbacks’ 28 games last season while averaging 11.7 points, five rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.7 assists per game in 2025-26. Cannon had herself a stellar performance in last season’s 3A state championship game against Keenan. She helped her team with 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal. She was one of three from the class of 2028 on last season’s Walhalla team which graduated a total of four seniors – including all three of its team co-captains.

How does a 3A Walhalla assembling that won its first state championship in any sport since the 1950s follow it up the following season? By repeating the feat. The 2025-26 season for coach Byron Wimphrie’s Razorbacks finished with a 26-2 record, a 21-game winning streak and another state championship. Cannon was a major factor in Walhalla prevailing over Keenan by a final score of 70-58 in early March’s state get-together at Colonial Life Arena. She had 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and one steal in that championship contest and averaged 11.7 points, five rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.7 assists in the 26 games she played for the Razorbacks this past season. 

Cannon is another that now has the distinction of being a multi-time state champion. Walhalla’s defense of its 3A state crown from the 2024-25 season would prove successful as the Razorbacks defeated Keenan by the final score of 70-58. Cannon was a key catalyst in Walhalla’s win with a 19-point performance. She also contributed six rebounds, three assists and a steal to the Razorbacks’ cause. This month’s 3A state contest brought a close to a 2025-26 season that saw Cannon average 11.7 points, five rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.7 assists in the 26 games that she played. Cannon is one of the three sophomores on this past season’s Razorbacks team. 

When one wins a state championship – as was the case for coach Byron Wimphrie and his 3A Walhalla assembling last season, said team has to expect for every opponent the following season to up its play. The Razorbacks have displayed they are ready for the challenge. Cannon led her Razorbacks with 18 points in a 58-28 victory over Carolina. Through 22 games, Cannon is the second-leading scorer for Walhalla as she has averaged 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. The Razorbacks will resume their title defense on Saturday when they take on Southside Christian. 

Cannon is set up perfectly to be the featured point guard for 3A Walhalla for this season and the ensuing two. The defending 3A champion Razorbacks were matched up against 2A Mid-Carolina and the 17 points placed on the scoreboard by Cannon ensured Saturday’s contest would be all Walhalla all the time. The final score was 71-17 in the Razorbacks’ favor. One element of the game where she excels is in transition – either as a distributor or as a scorer. Cannon is particularly difficult to game plan for as opponents have to consider if she will pass or if she will attack. 

What does one do following a state championship victory? Defend said state crown in hopes of going back-to-back. That will be the case for coach Byron Wimphrie’s Walhalla team and her building on a productive freshman campaign will be crucial to a successful title defense. Cannon played in 28 games last season for the Razorbacks and averaged 6.2 points and 1.1 steals per contest. Opposing teams have to look out for Cannon when she is making plays in the transition game and they also have to look out for her on defense as she is a consistent threat to collect steals. Cannon can also add a 3-point shooting dimension to a team’s offensive efforts.
