It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. That proverb applies to sport and life. Goodrich was kept off the scoreboard for the first three quarters of Lexington’s 5A Division 1 second round contest against River Bluff. The Gators nearly pulled off what some would call an upset but Goodrich made clutch plays on both defense and offense in the fourth quarter to keep the Wildcats’ season intact. Late in the fourth quarter, River Bluff led Lexington by a margin of 45-44 before Goodrich made four consecutive free throws to seal the victory for Lexington on its home hardwood. The junior guard’s ability to step up in the fourth quarter would ensure the Wildcats would earn a date with Carolina Forest in the 5A Division 1 Lower State semifinals.

Those that have watched Lexington throughout the month of June are getting a glimpse of what coach Molly Goodrich’s squad will resemble when we begin play for real this November. Braidi is one of the many playmakers that Wildcats opponents will have to deal with. The rising junior for Lexington is more of a point guard than a two but she has the ability to place points on the scoreboard from all three levels. Her ability to collect steals is another element to her game that can frustrate many an adversary and she is as every bit as proficient a passer as she is a scorer.

Goodrich certainly earned her way to varsity status following the time she previously spent in junior varsity. Recently, she has placed even more emphasis on delivering accurate passes and it has paid dividends for both her and her Lexington team. It led to Goodrich taking to the court in 22 games this past season. In addition, Goodrich can throw defenses off-balance with her ability to put points on the board via attacking the rim or connecting in the midrange game. She also previously played with Lexington Hoopsters on the club level which is common for Wildcats players. Goodrich stands at 5-foot-2 and is an important piece to the winning puzzle for Lexington.
