About Davina
Expert Analysis
Avi Burmenko | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Davina finished the regular season on a strong note and now enters postseason play with clear momentum after several impactful performances. In a recent game against Lincoln-Sudbury, she posted 15 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds while knocking down three three-pointers and effectively attacking a zone defense. She does a great job reading defensive pressure along the arc, using one or two controlled dribbles to get into her mid-range pull-up or all the way to the rim. Beyond her scoring, she consistently fights on the glass on both ends, helping end defensive possessions and generating second-chance opportunities through effort and positioning.

Davina shoots the ball at a high level from beyond the three-point line and is also a physical finisher at the rim, embracing contact and finishing with either hand. On the defensive end, she is tenacious, picking up full court, applying pressure as soon as opponents cross half court, and using quick hands to force steals.

Davina is a smooth player that plays with great flow and has a natural feel for the game. She’s led Arlington to some big wins so far this season. Makumbi’s athleticism has been difficult for opposing players to deal with and she isn’t afraid to take what the defense makes available for her. It’ll be intriguing to see just how far AC can go in the coming months. No matter what, Davina will be a major factor for them.

Davina made an immediate impact the moment she checked into the game, delivering a perfectly timed pass to a backdoor cutter that set the tone for her performance. A strong and patient finisher, she consistently got to her spots and converted tough, acrobatic layups with control. Her shooting, though, is what truly makes her stand out. Every time I looked up, she was knocking down another three-pointer— not only impressing me but also drawing reactions from the crowd.

Davina Makumbi (2027) | 5’6 | Guard/Wing | MA Huskies
Makumbi is somewhat underrated in some respects. Her decisive decision-making plus attacking nature puts pressure on the defense and forces it to collapse. She’s a determined driver that gets in the heart of the defense. Davina also showcases great vision as she gets downhill. The athletic wing has shown to be solid defender too. She uses her strength to steer players outside the lane.
