Furgess had to be one of the players of the tournament as she was a vital part of FBC ‘ last=’Legacy’]’s, success leaving the Sunshine State Showdown as 17U Coral Bracket Champions. She is the unquestioned leader of that group and a good one. Furgess controlled tempo and did a nice spreading the ball around to her talented teammates while facilitating the offense. When Legacy needed it, Devin stepped up in a major way hitting big shot after big shot. She shot the ball very well from the perimeter and was able to use her elite ball handling to evade defenders while attacking the basket. This was one of the best events from start to finish that I have seen her play in. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the very talented ’27 point guard and Legacy.

Devin dazzled in a battle of unbeatens, dropping 19 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in a 46-31 win over Hillgrove. Furgess is an excellent shooter, especially from deep. She shoots over top of high ball screens from well beyond the arc. Devin can beat defenders to the hoop and has the toughness to finish through contact with both hands. Furgess has had a breakout season in the fall league and has a big three years ahead of her.

Devin sank three threes and finished with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Furgess is undersized, but she is an extremely potent offensive player. She has deep three-point shooting range, loving to pull-up over high ball screens. With the New Manchester roster looking much different this year, expect Devin to be a focal point of the offense.

In seven games Furgess drilled 10 threes. Listed around 5-foot tall, Devin is a true sparkplug. She’s a lethal offensive threat that can pull up from deep or turn corners to get to her floater. Furgess is a future college player. If she is able to sprout up a few inches, it will be interesting to see her ceiling.

Furgess is a classic example of why the word “undersized” should seldom be used by hoops experts. Yes, she may be only listed at 5-foot-1, but that does not prevent her from getting herself in position to grab rebounds. One must be on the lookout for Furgess when she is behind the 3-point line because she is likely to take – and make – her tries from deep. She provides plenty of energy with the minutes she is allotted and does not believe in taking plays off. New Manchester, a 6A team, made its presence felt last season with a 22-7 record along with going 12-3 in its region. One can expect the winning ways of the Jaguar to continue with Furgess on its roster.

Furgess is a playmaker that doesn’t need much space to make things happen. Her quickness is her specialty as she uses it to slice through the defense and score at the rim. A player that has one of the best step-back jumpers I have seen in a long time. More importantly her ability to make pinpoint passes and see through small passing lanes is her forte. A player that plays both ends of the floor with a lot of energy.

The smallest player on the floor was one of the most consistent for New Manchester. Devin is a lethal three-point shooter. She filled it up from deep and did a good job handling pressure at point guard. Her shot making and poise will go a long way.
