Maury Jackson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Arguably the top shooter in the senior class! Lights out from long-range when left open. More than just a shooter… Ebony has shown continuous improvement year-after-year across the board. She went for back-to-back 33 point games earlier this month, one of which came against national powerhouse Etiwanda High School. This is a testament to her confidence and fearlessness against top-tier competition. Ebony has scored 20+ fifteen times on the year. Showcases good effort and instincts on the defensive end. Ebony is very efficient from the field. She is shooting over 50% from the field… nearly 50% from the 3pt line!

SHOOTER ALERT!!! Ebony is a talented dynamic guard that was a miss to not include in previous rankings. High academic prospect with one of the best 3P shots in her class; was top 10 nationally in 3P made as a Junior. Dangerous shooter off the bounce and the catch. Automatic if you lose her in help, but will put the ball on the floor and attack bad closeouts. High motor on the defensive end. Potential immediate impact player at the 4 year level.

Strengths: Spot-up ability, Range, Footwork
Ebony has a beautiful stroke and always gets her feet set. Lethal coming off screens on inbound plays. You expect it to go in every time from the looks of it. She went for 5+ threes on 12 separate occasions last year.

Last season, Taylor-Smith finished 11th in the state with 104 made threes, while shooting an efficient 38%. Her 4.0 made threes per game made up the bulk of her scoring as she averaged 15.2 points per game. She wasn’t quite as efficient from the free throw line where she only shot 67% on a small sample size of 18 attempts. Much of Taylor-Smith’s threes came off the catch. She moves exceptionally well without the ball, and her quick release makes her highly effective when curling off off-ball and back screens. She already has NBA range, forcing her defenders to come out well beyond the three-point line. The spacing she creates by being such a threat from beyond the arc helped the Eagles become an offensive juggernaut last season — finishing many games scoring in the high 80s and 90s.
